Yes great advice but for one huge hole in it, that of how to find a decent woman? Most these days are trash, cheat, only after money and ditch you if your money runs out. Any woman can change to a dragon in a heartbeat if another bad boy comes along, even what you think are decent girls can change overnight. I have had numerous relationshits and have chose all types, all ages, all attitudes and none bar one has turned out good. If any man finds the answer to finding a decent woman then he's a billionaire overnight. Women are a man's bane on his life these days it's not worth the risk.

Once you’re off training and getting a salary, get a SIPP, look online, pay in £100 a month from the start, and when you get a payrise, 20% goes in the SIPP. You don’t want to have to be working into your later years.

It's mad seeing all the comments in here about peoples regrets and what have you. I just turned 30 and spent most my working life in retail, warehouses, factories, hated pretty much every second off it. And as you said, some of us just aren't suited to academic life or office work and while yea a lot of tradies are rough af they're also generally by far the nicest people I've worked with. I've had sparks go into detail about how they got into the trade and told me what books to study, I've had joiners ask if I can fit arcs and skirts and let me cut and fit them in cupboards and such to get practice, a dry liner go into detail about how he prices up work (gonna build him a spreadsheet to price work as thanks), a groundworker teach me to screed, flag, fit drains and pipework, build fences, painters teach me to paint properly, a mastic guy teach me to seal windows, pretty much anytime I ask hey why are you doing X that way or how will you deal with Y? I get a detailed answer, when I say hey what if we did it this way? They'll either say hey that's a fking good idea or again, explain why it isn't. And yea I know I'm saving them time/making them money but it's mutually beneficial. I'm a proper anxious person and always thought I wouldn't handle being on site but I'm realising now site was the best thing for me. It's helped with my confidence massively, I feel appreciated, I take pride in my work and I have options everywhere to progress into something other than management. I've had a massive global firm offer me a job, van and a college course of my choice (despite missing every other monday when working for them) and offers to apprentice for a window fitter, dryliner, ground worker and a rigging firm (drilling for ground source heating mainly), and three separate managers ride my arse to get my triple sts/citb quals and besides all that I fking love the work. If you get stuck in and you aren't a massive c*nt people will look after you so much it's ridiculous, I've had more guidance from a brickie than my bloody therapist lmao. Also, and I'm sure there are exceptions but I've gotta say, if you've spent you're life in the trades and wound up skint you've seriously fked up somewhere and you probably would have p*ssed it up the wall no matter what job you had.

My whole family has been bricklayers or plumbers. I also saw them get into much pain from arthritis like you say. I ended up choosing to be the first person to go to university and now work in a bank, very high paid and travel a lot. I avoided the physical demands however I sometimes miss having a tea with the lads out in the sun. Respect to all the people who grind the most necessary jobs in our country.

I started work at 16 at the London brick company in Bletchley making blocking bricks , went on to hod carrying, roofing, floor screeding and eventually flooring fitting for 40 years. retired when my knee needed replacing. my hands. fingers are totally knackered twisted with arthritis but I would do it all again in a heartbeat. Doing a good days work is good for your soul, but maybe not so much your body lol

I have been in a trade involving vehicles which i have loved for 30 years and it has served me very well. Over the last 10 years i have done a few self builds using good guys as i personally am not a builder and am at this moment in time building a forever home a house i would not change if i won the lottery. We have been using reclaimed stone which starts off looking like rubble. Back it off (on my Norton clipper Jumbo 900), clean off all the signs of old pointing, wash it and WOW the stuff i have built is top draw. TALK ABOUT JOB SATISFACTION LOOKING AT A PROPER BUILDING YOU HAVE PRODUCED FROM SCRATCH. Young lads listen up, put the time in and you won't be disappointed.

I'm a retired bricklayer from Dublin Ireland. And God! I can relate to so much in this video. I particularly feel a great affinity to some of the guys whose comments bring it all home to me again. I'm in my seventies now, and when I was starting as an apprentice we were told things like: Dublin has the best bricklayres because of the tradition of Georgian architechture, after Dublin came London and so on. Of course this was all a myth. Now in Dublin there are quite a lot of eastern European bricklayers, who I'm sure would laugh at someone saying this. But I loved some of the comments about making and not making money and all of that. I know now there are very few Irish kids interested in bricklaying and construction, and it's not hard to see why this is now. Anyway, greetings brothers, as we used to say in the bricklayers union here in Dublin. The video brought back so much memories, some good and some not so good.

I retired in 2020 after 50 years on the tools. Indentured apprenticeship, nowadays they get a qualification for identifying each bond!!. I saw the Polish come over in droves, 4x4 wooden lintels, 20mm on the p*ss over 1200mm. 2ft of gobbo in the cavity.

Chang, your battery terminal is loose, this makes it get very hot and melt. It's not been forced. If the battery isn't that old see if you can tighten that damaged connection in the damaged slot with a knife blade and clean the gap in the slot with a bit of wet and dry sand paper. I like to lay a dry bond, it's saved me over the years. I knew bricklayers who would lay the bond, and I will never understand why. The few minutes you save costs you in qualitity of work but also costs time at the end of your bond. I've been doing this work a long time, and 4 out of 5 bricklayers are laying the bond instead of laying it dry.

We have a housing crisis that would put yours to shame...no houses getting built and they're bringing in hundreds of thousands of mirants a year- none of whom have any interest in working construction, especially not becoming bricklayers! Mostly Indians and Bangladeshis who culturally think that type of work is for untouchables. Can you blame them? They love to bang on about a free market, but where is the appropriate market rate for what bricklayers put themselves through? Friends were owed $50k each by nicheliving...they just flat out refused to pay. No reason just...if you can't afford to fight it, they get away with $50k saved off the build. Now they're screaming out for brickies and they've already left. It's okay to say they're on okay rates now but the complete picture is much more complex

That cutter battery has had high resistance on the earth pin, the excess heat has melted the pin. Probably a bit furred up with corrosion which caused the bad earth.

The battery has been shorting out! that's why the plastic is melted, normally a loose spring connector, normal trade use wear can do that. But check the connector spigot on the tool also, it may be worn thin? And will be blackened and damaged.

For the life of me I don't know why the manufacturers of these battery platform tools don't also make a corded fake battery you can use interchangeably, to get you out of a bind if a battery goes dead on a job. I guess they don't want to, because they want to sell as many batteries as they can. Or perhaps the wattage(s) are different for each tool etc making it hard.

i just did it cos my dad did it and i needed a skill...and i knew how to do it as i used to go to work with him. at 17 i really didnt know what i wanted to do .tho its not my ideal job i dont hate it, like most people seem to do .. i like working with my hands and theres the job satisfaction element which is important...been doing it for 40 years now

You have to get qualified at college. I passed years ago, it's pretty easy. Getting into the trade is a different matter though.

We would not need new homes if there were not more people. And the only reason the number of people has increased is immigration. So there would be no housing crisis if it were not for immigration.
