Absolutely blistering.The connection between his voice,body and guitar is unbelievable.His phrasing is off the dial.Outstanding band.Freddie was a big man but wow he moved beautifully,putting his whole soul into every note.Tooooo good!

Jumps right into the slamming blues guitar playing, doesn't even take his jacket off. Freddie was the boss.
@ralorpa5 жыл бұрын
@paul west Without his jacket, the contrast of his jacket to the white collars of his shirt is taken care of. Look closely and you will spot the white collars on the closeup shot...

check the clip of him doing "Ain't Nobody's Business" from the same gig at the Sugar Bowl. He brings it in with four notes, then takes off the jacket and takes his time too. Badass as hell.

Freddie was a force of nature, I "tried" to copy his style . . . semi hollow body (couldn't afford the Gibson ES-345) and metal thumb pick etc . . . his stinging raw sound, loud smooth voice, not many that had the whole package like he did. Damn was he intense, just painfully good! I would sell my soul to play and sing like that! REPLY

I used to be blues radio programmer and host. Luther Allison admired Freddie King. A record company wanted to sign Allison to a big contract. But they wanted him to take the monicer Freddie King Junior. Allison didn't sign with the company. He wanted to be himself and carve his own style of music. After seeing this video, I can tell that Allison borrowed some of King's commanding energy.
