I just got a new pump for my 1999 ZX-9R. I've been examining the device since I though it's a motor. Now after some time of examination I would say it's a solenoid controlled inlet/outlet pump. So there's one axle at middle and it does rise up when power is connected and it starts to move up'n down, up'n down with some "horse walk sound". So am I right that it is suppose to keep on that lifting all the time? My old pump possibly just "opens the channel" and does not pump, but bike runs anyway since fuel is able to bypass the line. So it is not suppose to be motor at all? I mean it's an electric version of ordinary vacuum line controlled inlet/outlet pump or what?

when you turn on the ignition to supply dc power to the bike, from cold or maybe hot, is it normal to hear the tik tik tik sound? its rapid then slows down then disappears, sometimes it sounds like fart or farty.

If your bike is newer they are efi and it could possibly be fuel pump priming the system.

This one just stopped working so the bike wouldn't run. But if it's going out and not delivering enough gas it'll act like you have the gas turned off and it's running out.
