012524 LONG STREET ROAD FATAL

Thursday morning a 19-year-old female was westbound on Longstreet Road, west of I-45 in Willis when she lost control after braking on the wet road. Her 2011 Ford Escape went into the eastbound lane and struck a 2010 BMW head-on. North Montgomery County Fire responded to the scene along with MCHD. They were able to extricate the female from the twisted metal.. She was in cardiac arrest as she was transported to HCA Conroe where she was pronounced deceased. The male driver of the BMW was not seriously injured. DPS investigated the crash.

They shouldn't allow automatic transmissions in commercial trucking, increases in accidents has proven standard transmissions are safer. But leaders are more interested in enriching their selves, like Biden to bring immigrants in with h1b visas, as cheap labor is hurting the bottom line but filling politicians pockets while Americans are lied to about the false economy of those in charge with stocks and insider trading. Say what you want about German cars and volvos but even with the higher center mass of the SUV, that beamer did its job, totalled but the driver wslked away. The irony is that you can buy 10 year old Mercs and BMs for about the same or less than that little escape, maintenance may be higher but their safety cannot be denied

No, it isn't. I have been the victim of someone else's stupidity, but the worst was my friend's dad who was a county engineer driving his mid-size company car from point A to B when, on a curve in the highway, a drunk driver going 97 in a 45 zone lost control of his F-250 and collided head-on with the car. He lived 4 days in the ICU until he died. The drunk got 2 years in Stillwater State Prison. You could be the most careful and safe driver on the planet and still end up dead as a door nail due to no fault of your own.

Such a young life to be wasted. So heart breaking. From the time my kids were little, I always taught them the importance of road safety. By the time they were old enough to get their license, they had it drilled into their heads, and they knew that on wet and icy roads that if you went out of control, take your foot off the gas, look where you want to go and do not touch the brakes. That's saved both of them many times but it doesn't always work, as both myself and my son learned the hard way from me going up on a sidewalk and hitting one sign and taking out another, and him hitting a pole, but it helps in most situations. I can't help but wonder if it would have helped her in this situation. 💔

Just did some research found out the ford escape from 2011 had a weak roof that could only hold 8800 pounds of force in the roof strength test in contrast to the Volvo xc60 same year could hold 21800 pounds it’s no surprise it failed.

I always try to see what the tread condition is on the tires - the Escape had really good tread, so speeding? Maybe she fell asleep? OR texting and driving? THAT drives me nuts whenever I see it.

I used to own and drive that year if Ford Escape and it was kind of squirrely on wet roads, especially if there was any ponding. Hydroplaning and using brakes didnt help. I had to let off the accelerater if i saw lots of water on the roads. RIP to this young lady.
