At 11:02pm Friday Porter Fire was dispatched to a head-on crash on FM 1314 near Louis Lane. Units arrived to find two vehicles over 100 yards apart with heavy damage and the drivers of both entrapped. FIrefighters worked for close to 20-minutes to free the driver of the GMC Denali pickup. THe truck had come off the roadway, hit a brick fence which ripped the cab of the truck off the frame. THe driver was transported to Kingwood Hospital. The other vehicle, a Chevrolet SUV, had a female driver trapped. Firefighters were able to easily get her out. She was also transported to the hospital in stable condition. According to witnesses the GMC Denali was traveling at a high rate of speed north on FM 1314 when witnesses say they saw sparks and the truck went into the southbound lanes hitting the SUV almost head-on. That impact ripped the drivers door from the vehicle. THe GMC then continued over 100-yards where it went through the ditch and struck a concrete wall/fence. THe cab was ripped from the frame. DPS is still investigating what caused the GMC to cross into the opposing lanes.

Thank you for putting this together, my mom was the driver of the Chevy Cruze, I am glad to say that she is going to be ok. She has some fractures and is having surgery today. She would like prayers as she recovers.

That's one hell of an impact. The fact both drivers were injured, but still alive is a testament to how far we've come in automotive safety. And that isn't a Chevy "SUV" as stated in the description, that is a little Chevy Cruze tuna can car, and it took it like a champ. I drove a hatchback version of one as a delivery driver for an old job, and got into a front ender, it surprised me how well it held up and I walked away with a sprain wrist.

Myself, my daughter and fiance was involved in a head on collision 4/25/23 and I hope their injuries not close to mine.. It wasn't my fault and I'm still trying to recover I was broken very bad from my chest all the way down to my ankles. People please be careful and mindful it's not only you on the road. Praying for a full recovery for both!

Me either !! I’m afraid of the deer and skunks on the roads plus all the idiots out there!!! But right now where I live a lot of the night time animals are looking for romance and not paying attention to anything else!! It has to be an emergency for both of us to be out after dark.

Something went wrong with the truck, witnesses said truck was travelling at a high rate of speed when sparks were seen and the truck went into the opposite lane. A tire/ wheel and a broken brake rotor was seen at 5:00 to 5:27 .

I see something very familiar....clean body mount holes on that frame where the bolts washers and all have just pulled through on these trucks! I do believe the one I was called out to in 2002 had a body lift done on it. none of the mount holes were bent or misshaped the cab came free and was underneath the frame and both were wrapped around a 9ft round power pole ( HV Transmission line) It was so destroyed my Police tow request had the make as a Dodge Dakota..when it was actually a full size Chevrolet duramax Crew cab 4x4.
