FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (ALSO : XTRONS has updated the unit since my video was released. I have added 2 different versions to the description) Q: Why not just by this ebay radio for half the price? They look the same after all. A: Although they may look the same on the outside, the radios are completely different in function. I have no personal experience with other brands, so you make find air conditioning, steering wheel controls, and other features to not work properly. Q: Is this video sponsored by XTRONS? A: No, I purchased this myself with little knowledge about it. I discovered this brand by doing research, but once I found it to work so well, I decided to share it with the rest of the Accord community. Q : Why doesn't my climate control work? A : Make sure your unit is made by XTRONS. All of the aftermarket head units for Accords look nearly identical, but have different software and wiring. Q : Mine is XTRONS but climate control still doesn't work. A : The unit seen in this video has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Since then, they have updated it to have 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage, but some have reported issues with that version. Make sure you have the 2/16 version to prevent issues, or contact XTRONS if you already have the 4/64 and it isn't working. I personally don't have any experience with the updated models, so just check the reviews first to play it safe. Q : Does it have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto? A : No, it doesn't come with it. But you can buy an CarPlay or Android Auto USB dongle and plug it into the USB ports. Q : Does the storage compartment still open? A : Yes it does, just be sure to zip tie all the wires up and out of the way. Q : Do the AC buttons light up? A : They are kinda dim, but yes they light up enough to read at night. Q : What dash kit/radio install kit do I need? A : None. It fits in the stock radio spot without any adapters. Q : Can I use a back up camera? A : Yes, plug the included harness into the back of the unit, and hook the camera too it. Then tap the wire labeled "reverse" on the main harness into the reverse lights.

What's the key difference between the cheap and expensive models? I see in your FAQ that the unit shown in the video is the 16gb with 2gb of Ram version. You also mentioned the 64 gb version (updated one/expensive one) has some problems. Anyhow, the cheaper version is only available in 16gb. So should I get the cheaper model?

@@reeda9358 I'm not completely sure it has problems, some have said that theirs isn't working but they could just be talking about a different brand that isn't even XTRONS. The main difference is that one has 16gb of storage and 2gb RAM, and the other has 64gb storage with 4gb RAM. Just depends of how many things you plan on installing on it.

@@brooklyn7941 If yours is dual zone you would need to use the cable with 2 green plugs on it. If you already did that and it randomly switched, I would check if dual mode is selected in the settings app. Either that or you need an AC recharge

How long is the boot-up from [turning the key to IGN] to [useable screen]? Can you customize HVAC Mode options to display on the screen, instead of cycling through? How are OTA Android updates? The lights were always super dim on mine when I had this car but it did still light up, it was also just hard to see. There was a setting to change the color of the light in one of the apps so I set it to white and it was a little better

Yes you need the hotspot to use wifi. I also use the Sygic app for GPS which works offline and doesn't need any connection

@@marc4595 My accord got wrecked in 2021 because somebody ran a red light, but I did still have the radio that whole time and it never stopped working. Sometimes the bluetooth wouldn't connect immediately so I would have to turn the car off and on again but otherwise it was issue free

No, no Apple Car Play. This has Android OS. You can use an iPhone with it to make calls and music, but NO iPhone Apps will work from the phone. You must install Android versions into this unit directly.

You can download google maps and stuff like that if you want to use a wifi hotspot with it. Same for youtube, netflix, etc. If you want Apple Carplay you can look up "Carplay usb dongle" on google and there will be loads of them

Thanks for Part 1. It helped in installing my XTRONS PR19ACH_L 10.1" Android 9.0 radio in my 2006 Honda Accord SE. All seems to work fine but I have no Rear Defroster. The Defroster light comes on on the radio button but no power going to the rear defroster. Front heating is working fine. Any ideas as to how to get the Rear Defroster going??? Am I missing something ???

Yeah they sell Carplay USB dongles online that you can plug into the USB port harness. And as for the reverse camera, there's a separate harness with video inputs on it

I installed the gps antenna the way you did. However, my gps won't work unless I'm connected to my phones hotspot. Is there a way to be able to use the gps without being connected to my phones hotspot?

Unfortunately not, which I found out afterwards. The manual says you can insert a GPS card into the SD slot, but I never found any slot on the device. The best solution is to just keep using the hotspot or download the maps for offline mode onto the unit.

I just installed mine on my 2006 honda accord and im having trouble getting the AC (cold air) to work. I've even tried to use the heat but no luck. Mine is single air but those two buttons that don't work on yours, light up like as if theyre trying to work on mine. Im assuming that's most likely the issue? Is yours made by XTRONS? Try contacting the seller or manufacturer of the unit you bought, but usually it's caused by the wiring harness not being compatible with the car.

How is night driving? Can the screen be dimmed enough to not distract? Can it be turned off including the back light, but audio still work? Any idea if an oldschool ipod will connect to the usb ports and allow the headunit to control it?

It can't be fully turned off as far as I know, but it can be dimmed since it uses the regular Android software. I used to live in NH which was pitch black at night time, so I just downloaded a completely black image and pulled it up in the photos app.

The top display isn't compatible because it's function comes directly from the stock navigation system. As for the heater display not showing, either check the wiring or contact the seller. I know some other brands seem to have this issue

I was not satisfied with the genuine audio when I was on the cl7 yuro-R and purchased it on ebay. I can't set it up just like you, and I remember it was a bit difficult to use with the right handle. Yes cruise control still works, and the center box still opens fine but you need to ziptie the wires out of the way or else it won't open. I tucked the wires far up enough so mine still opens and closes perfectly fine.

Yes there's no max a/c button so if you use that button a lot you'll lose the functionality unfortunately

Just a simple question... A lot of android units that i´ve seen around does not have a good sound/volume quality. In fact, most part of them are even worse then the original factory units. What can you tell me about your unit? It's from Xtrons, right?! For me it's a major point to have a great sound quality and that's my biggest fear about changing my unit on my Ford Focus 2010 with a Sony radio (very good sound) to a android unit. Thanks

Have you tried using it while wearing polarised sunglasses? Some screens seem to be affected more than others. Also, have you encountered anyone putting one of these instead of the stock navigation unit? There's a little radio/clock/temperature display on the panel where you put your GPS antenna, which I'd hate to stop working.

I don't wear sunglasses personally, but I doubt it would make a difference in using it. It should be the same as using your phone outside with sunglasses on. And I know as a fact the upper dash display doesn't work with any aftermarket units, not sure if anyone has custom wired it to work

It does have a built in mic, and the screen mirroring is supposed to be wireless but with Samsung I could never get it to work. Technically you can run some adapters that go from USB-C to VGA for the video inputs on the back of the radio but I never tried that

I bought the latest model xtrons with more memory .the bass is nowhere near as good as in my 2005 ex premium stock CD player. My a/c works but does not blow as hard with this unit. Back up camera works my main issue is my front speakers will not work. I checked settings and connection everything is fine except front two speakers will not work. I installed my original CD player back in the car and front speakers work again so nothing is wrong with my speakers. I even got another unit because I thought the unit I had was defective. front speakers still won't work any suggestions?

Maybe it just has to do with the the 64 GB unit. I've heard some other people with the higher capacity model have had various issues. I would try contacting them and ask if there's anything you can do to get the front speakers to work.

It's only if your car came with dual zone, but yes that is how it would work. If your car came with single zone it will just be the same on both sides like usual.

Is this the best head unit for this car? I just bought an 04 Accord and the radio wasn't working. I replaced the fuze and it worked for an hour. Have seen videos to fix internal issues of the radio but this would be easier.

Out of all the Android radios this one seems to have the least amount of issues based on reviews. A Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood etc will have better sound quality than this but this radio is much easier to install

@@paulrojina I haven't had any issues with mine personally. I got it off Amazon in the description for $380 if I remember correctly. Some people with dual zone climate control have commented about initial issues getting it to work, but most of those have been resolved by changing the AC settings on the head unit.

Lastly my system don't fit in evenly into the space under the vents, like there is a gap between the top of the unit and the vent panel. Is there a trick or a kit I can buy to close the gap?

@@williegfann For the vents I would just make sure all the clips on both the vent panel and the radio are secured all the way. And as for the front speakers, check the equalizer balance settings, or check the wires/contact the seller if it still doesn't work

I noticed the user interface for the cheaper model is a little different than your user interface. Is there a way to change the user interface (layout of the apps) or can you only change the wallpaper? Or is the user interface you are using only for the 8.1 operating system and the user interface for the 10.0 operating system is what is actually shown on amazon for the cheaper model?

I'm pretty sure you can use a custom launcher app, since it does run Android after all. I'm not sure if you can do the exact same one, but Nova Launcher from the play store will give it a modern customizable look

When i attempt to use the ac function,the seats shown in your video don't even pop up on my screen. The AC unit functions but only if I use the buttons manually I can't get the seats to pop up on the screen like you do when you press the mode button. What am I doing wrong?

Not sure if you'll reply but I've read that the CANBUS decoder will automatically tell the unit to switch to reverse mode once the car is in reverse and the camera is connected to a 12v power source (in this case not the reverse light) can you confirm if this is in fact the case with this particular unit?

You'll need to run the power wire from the reverse light or reverse light switch to the wire labeled "reverse" on the main radio harness

Great video...I do some vids as well and know they take effort and time. Question: I did a test install of Roadanvi's version of this unit. My son's car has an unused white harness that used to plug into the stock unit...I assume this was for the steering wheel controls. What adapter/encoder did you use? The unit I bought did not come with one. One more Q: is there anyway to display on the screen what mode the HVAC is in (defrost, feet, face, etc)? The stock unit at least displayed this data. Appreciate it.

Mine came with the canbus decoder already, I'm not sure if XTRONS decoder is compatible with your model but you might be able to reach out to them and get one. And mine also displayed the HVAC modes by default but I would go into the settings app and see if there's anything for yours.

I bought the same 10 inch screen of amazon for $500, but had different software. Like mine doesn't show where the ac vents are pointing when I click the vent, got to feel it. Next the a/C Doesn't work sometimes and the rear defroster doesn't work. So all in all get this exact one and not any other types.

Yeah the problem with the Accord aftermarket units is that they all look exactly the same from the outside but can be very different on the inside

How do you set up bluetooth. I just got one of these radios and I can get the bluetooth to work or the usb to recognize the devices

On mine I had to click on the device on the bluetooth settings of my phone and enter a password (it was either 1234 or 0000) and after that it pairs automatically when I start the car

@@NoPointOfThis123 interesting. My radio looks just like yours, but looks different, especially the apps. I went to the settings to access bluetooth and I put it on. It was off. It didn't ask for a password and it didn't work. Still couldn't pair. I parked, went to the he store and when I got back in the car that I tried it again. It paired like right away. All of a sudden. I just got play on my device and it started working. Really crazy but I got it. Thanks again. Great video.

What does the out button do? Also how did you change the temp where the heat comes out to Fahrenheit?

Out is the opposite of recirculation mode, it just takes the outside air and puts it into the car. And for fahrenheit you can find it in the "car settings" app, different from the regular settings app.

You need to make sure both the WiFi and GPS antenna are plugged in and it should work fine. If it still doesn't I would say to contact XTRONS support

I have something similar. When I plug in the blue main harness for power and stuff my front speakers dont come on. I have the ex-l model. It had factory a GPS radio before. The back work wonder why the front won't. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure, a lot of these radios look identical but are different on the inside. I would just make sure all the wiring is in place, or maybe check the balance/fader settings in the equalizer app. If that still doesn't work just contact your seller

No, this won't work in the Inspire because the dashboard is a different shape. However, a radio from 2004-2008 Acura TSX might work if the plugs are the same

Is it compatible with Apple Carplay and Android Auto? If you are not connected to wifi with the radio what happens to all the apps you downloaded that need internet? (Waze, Spotify, etc.)

It doesn't have Carplay or Androids Auto built in but you can look up "Carplay/Android Auto USB Dongle" to make it work. Without a hotspot from your phone, the internet apps won't work unless they have offline functionality. I use Sygic for GPS because it's free and works offline and just bluetooth while playing Spotify on my phone.

There are diffrent dash kits and you can choose your own way. 5 star car audio shows them installing I believe a PAC dash kit for a double din. And that allows you to keep the pocket underneath as well

It should work with the Navi models but the stock navigation GPS and the vent screen won't work. You'll need to use Google Maps with phone wifi hotspot or download some offline maps

If you mean the upper dash display right above the vents I don't think those are compatible with any aftermarket unit

Yes mine is still working fine, never gave me any problems since I installed it. All I can say is make sure you actually get one made by XTRONS, because every Android radio for these Accords looks identical on the outside but build quality is different.

Yes you use a WiFi hotspot with it, and there is a version with more storage in the description (the more expensive model). However, you can put music and videos onto a USB flash drive and use it that way as well.

You would need the whole wiring harness that goes from the clock spring to the radio, so I'm not sure how complicated that process would be. And yes you can put Spotify on it

Yes mine has the tweeters and they still work. Mine was the single zone climate 6 CD changer version before I installed the XTRONS system

@@gauthierrenard1689 You have to mess around with the equalizer a bit, sometimes other equalizer apps from the play store can make it sound better too. To me it seems like the overall quality is better except there's less bass, but it comes with subwoofer outputs anyways

Is yours the XTRONS model with 4gb of RAM and 64gb of storage? I've heard they upgraded it from 2gb/16gb that I have and some others have reported problems. You should check the wiring first and if it doesn't work contact XTRONS

I just have a question I just bought this radio and installed it a few days ago and it did not have the separate green wire for the brake like yours on the harness. There was a green wire however it was already made into the connector and I can’t watch videos or KZbin even with the car in park and the ebrake on what the fix?

Usually there's some type of separate wire that's supposed to go to the e brake, so I would check again if there's another wire that comes with it. Or look in the settings app if there's a safety feature you can disable. If not I would just contact the seller/manufacturer
