@@albertol2670 yes just make sure to use the oil that scotty recommends for those engines to avoid the oil dilution. I think Scotty will also recommend the fwd and not the awd because it may break dowen and give our problems in the future, and it reduces gas milage, unless you REALLY need it, and on a crv you probably wont go off roading

Transmissions only make it to 500K when the driver knows how to baby a transmission. Early transmission failures in older Honda’s generally only happen to people who are rough on them. This excludes those newer CVT’s, those things are expected to fail and none of them will make it to 500K on all original parts.

Yes they need premium and the fuel economy suffers, but I still get 30 on the highway with the TL and that's 270 HP. As long as these are maintained well (especially frequent transmission fluid changes), they will last a very long time.

I had a 2004 CR-V (the only car I ever bought new). Put 225,000 miles on it, and then it got totaled being in the middle of a 3-car accident. 😟😢 I now have a 2014 CR-V that I bought used. Currently has 147,000 miles on it. One thing about certain Honda’s in and around the mid-teens years is that they had issues with the VTC Actuator (causing random brief grinding sound upon a cold startup in the morning). Got it replaced via recall issue (twice), but I still occasionally get that startup sound (especially in colder weather). It also has other ticky-tack issues that are annoying, but it still runs well and gives great mileage (I average 18,000-20,000 per year on it due to my daily commute). Will hold onto it as long as I can. When the time comes, I’ll bump up to a used Pilot. But that won’t be for another 50,000-100,000 miles. 😎 This is my fifth Honda over the last 30 years. With most Honda’s and Toyota’s you can’t miss, unless it’s a used one that was poorly maintained or mistreated.

@@user-dx3ej8vk2i yep Kia and Hyundai are junk. Had a 6spd manual Forte I bought at 42k and drove till 85k then got rid of it. It gave me no problems but I know they were coming. Plus shortly after I got rid of it the recall for the 2.4 engine came out. Like when they would light on fire and such lol. Glad I got rid of it. Back to Honda Toyota or Fords only. Fords have been good to me as my Frontier has been too. That's the only Nissan I would buy.

Those k24 engines are good engines. A lot of them develop oil consumption issues after 100k, I think it’s an issue with failing to change to oil. I had a 2012 si that I banged off the rev limiter every time I drove it. Traded her in when the air went out but engine was still going strong

Just need to watch my oil levels as it consumes oil because of almost 80 miles a day commuting to work and home. Best car I’ve ever owned and gonna try to keep it for 20 years.

It might be something pretty easy like valve guides replacement to stop the oil consuming... If it not and its the piston rings, that is a lot more work and $$ but it is not ever as much as if you had a bigger engine... I have a friend who has sold used Honda and Acura vehicles for over 40 years and he is driving a beautiful, older Civic that has 640,248 miles on the odomoter.. I sat in the car and pulled up that odometer, and there it was!!!! These cars can go a long time if you keep up on the oil and filter...

Hi Scotty! What's your opinion on the spin off segment that is popular in Asian countries? It's like a hybrid between MPVs and an SUV. These cars are 7-seaters with 1.5L petrol engine usually giving only 120PS and 130-140 NM Torque coupled to a 4 Speed automatic transmission or a CVT. Examples of this are the Toyota Rush, Mitsubishi Xpander, Honda BR-V.

Don't buy any honda with the 1.5 liter with a turbo if you live in a area that gets extreme cold temperatures. 1.5 liter can't get up to operating temp if you have heating fan on high. You end up with oil dilution and very poor heat inside the cab. The 1.5 liter is a three season engine.
