Richard, I realize there's a lot more than meets the eye when working on Dodge transmissions, but when you opened that 4R100 it was like dumping out 4000 piece puzzle 🧩 😂. You keep reaching in and pulling out more parts until the table is completely filled. The knowledge you possess is astonishing 😮😊

Supply chains are definitely sketchy these days. I have a Yanmar tractor engine being built at a local machine shop and the crank timing gear has to be replaced. I spent 3 days trying to find one in the US and didn't find any. I had to have one ordered out of Japan and the shortest lead time I found was 4 weeks, hopefully they're right as everyone else was at 6 weeks. Don't sweat the camera mistake Miss Theresa, we all have our days. Another very good educational video 👍👍

What Richard finds when he pulls apart a rebuilt transmission, is a widespread plague in the automotive repair business. Machine shops even suffer from mediocre quality control. Hobby automotive enthusiasts don't get their money's worth anymore. I wish more people who take repairs seriously like Richard, go into business.

I worked on some 727's back sooome years back, but these 48re's are seriously critical . Not only the planetary over drive, but the many changes inside . I wasn't a trans shop, just a general mechanic, but never really had too many things me or my dad couldn't figure out, but glad we didn't have to dive into one of these back then ... Wouldn't be bad at all if we had you on the internet though Richard . lol You DEFINITELY have saved a LOT of mechanics from serious doom . lol Thanks to you and Teresa . :)

Sir nice to see you posting…. Sir hope things work out for you and family! The hardest thing is a family business… seems some one always gets butt hurt and feels they are taken advantage of … yet the thing is it is true…. So some one always feels they give more than others and do not get back what they put in : and others feel they have the right to make others work more… as they feel they put in more to the business so do not have to work as hard! Family disputes are common! Not sure what all happened but no one business but yours ! Just hope it can come together latter on… just not work together: any way nice to see your still able to survive! Well done still would like to see a full proper assembly! Always a tear down! Only on or two builds???? Like how you assemble and check clearance as well as positioning! To keep parts in place with no interference with shifting alignment of parts pushing/ pulling on each other in their proper place W/ free/ proper clearance and tightness! So each section works with out other section interfering! Know its got to be a art to know where and how to put everything in the right place to work where not fighting each other!!! Spacing is key!!!!

Hi Richard and Teresa, Long time video watcher and subscriber for both channels. Love the videos. I just have a suggestion for ya'll about the sound in the videos. Richard speaks very softly but the air gun is very loud. I believe you can remedy this disproportionate sound difference by increasing the gain on the audio recording device and adding an outdoor/heavy duty microphone sound suppressor. This would be similar to the fuzzy looking microphone attachments professional news channels use to report outside in a loud environment or weather storms. Hope you find this comment helpful. Very Respectfully, Greg and Ashley

I have a question. I am building a c4 and was wondering if the 727 filter and adapter would be good with a trans brake? I have only used the deep factory filter in my other transmission. And is there any benefit between them?

Who built the thing? It's got a hardened shell, billet input and intermediate shafts but a car pump and a 4 clutch 3 gear. The shell and the shafts were very spendy. Going to a 5 clutch 3rd would have been cheap. And they basically stole his diesel pump because he sent them his core that had one in it and they sent him back a trans with an inferior car pump. 😞😕😠 I wish KZbinrs would be more forthcoming about who does crap work so we would know who to stay away from. In this case I don't think that Richard knows who it is but almost all of the time I see creators protecting people and businesses that are taking advantage of people or doing subpar work. Maybe there are legal issues that I'm not aware of.

Tranny was built by Dave Goerand out of Iowa. Had 160k miles on it. Knowledge has improved greatly since 2006 when this one was built. Think it held up pretty well considering what it’s been through!
@ToddKing
@ToddKing 7 ай бұрын
@@user-xy8iu1sq1c You are absolutely correct. There has been a ton of R&D since then and we know a lot more about what works and what doesn't. And I was unaware of the age of this build. If I had know how old it was I might not have been so tough on it but I still think most of my criticisms stand. But I could be looking back with rose colored glasses, thinking we knew more than we did. Goerand builds some really good stuff so they've got it figured out. I build my own. That way I know what's in there and how it was set up. And if it has issues I know right where to find the guy responsible. 😄 But I did have the advantage of being an ASE certified Master Tech for over 20 years.
