I'm a classically-trained composer with advanced degrees in music. I have spent countless hours trying to understand the endless genius of Ravel, Mozart and Schubert. I've spent at least as much time trying to figure out the compositional brilliance of the Beatles. Andy Partridge is the only "pop" musician, outside the Beatles, who has inspired the same wonder for me. I've mapped out Andy's chord progressions. I've pulled apart his use of ostinato, I've tried to comprehend the brilliance of his arranging (which, while certainly the efforts of the entire band, the essentials are clearly evident in Andy's home demos.) I've been awed by the gravity-free shape of his melodies (only equaled by McCartney). The man is beyond measure...and I've tried to measure it!

I am loving every second of these videos! I have never heard or seen anything like this before and it is fantastic...giggle, laugh & smile! I would give almost anything to have been just sitting cross-legged on the floor listening at every rehearsal they had! Is it just Andy, Colin & Dave at this time? THANK YOU! Tusen hjertelig takk!
