the best castlevania song that was never in a castlevania game

+EternalBooda Sometimes I wonder about the limitations that the NES/SNES sound chips had, and whether the restrictive nature of them is what forced a lot of the musical talent of these composers to shine through. You had to get clever to make something sound good. Then when things went fully orchestral, I think a lot of that ingenuity died because things were suddenly left too open. It was like pouring a cup of musical talent espresso into a bucket of possibilities. Some of the composers were able to make the transition, while others faded into relative mediocrity. I think the real talent in modern video game composing lies with the people who are able to do re-arrangements of classic tracks that still maintain the right feel and flavour of the originals. One great example is Yoko Shimomura, composer and re-arranger for the music in the Kingdom Hearts series, as well as the forth coming Final Fantasy XV. She is a master of faithful re-arrangements. Addendum: In the case of Ys: Books I and II (widely considered to have one of the greatest soundtracks of all time) the music was composed by Yuzo Koshiro. However, he only composed the original chiptune versions of the tracks, while the awesome orchestral stuff you hear in the PC Engine version of the game were re-arrangements created by Ryo Yonemitsu. So at the end of the day, was it the musical genius of Yuzo you are hearing, or is it the transformative genius of Ryo that REALLY made that music?
@tpj69888 жыл бұрын
+SeafoamSmiles Although there is no scientific proof or anything like that I really have to agree with everything you say. Those restrictions somehow forced musical talents out of all those composers...
