For those still working on these, those plastic fasteners on the cowl that holds the top panel with squirters, leak so first silicone them, then look for the fasteners under the cowl holding the sound panel, one is above the brake booster the other is right behind the cabin air duct. Pop them out and under the sound oanel youll see twon plastic body plugs, pop them out and reinstall the fasteners to the sound panel. Done. Theres a channel there that fills with water and once it reaches a certain level it pours into the pcm.

You don't need to relocate a PCM you just need to run it beat a silicone between the body and the first metal wiper motor cowl mount... And yes it's Cowl not crawl lol

Yea that's what I've read in the past on fords forum. But luckily we dont have the van no more. Dad traded it off cause of health declined.

Ford tecalled that moisture problem. Or at least when I bought mine they sealed aroynd where pcm is to protect from rain. Going inside your cab will look like a junk yard car. Hope you just talk to ford about getting it sealed

That is one of the most common things on those vans. But unfortunately my father bought the van for cheap. It had some issues with it an I fixed alot of things that were wrong. An then later on the pcm problem we were going to buy a new com for it an a harness an I was going to reroute the pcm into the van some where under the dash or inside kick panel. But his health got him down with brain cancer so we was never able to fix it. Although he did make a deal with dodge for a trade in on another van which was a dodge caravan. They took the freestar. That was a round an round situation I found some issues with the van an brought it to their attention they refused to fix the steering wheel. It was loose. They said it was normal. They refused to fix a tire that was leaking remind you my father served for this country he served airforce. I was pissed that They were going to refuse to fix it. I made a comment on their site they wanted me to take down my comment. Me an my father refused. My father had a flat coming back from visiting with me in 95 degree heat at night. Had to get a tow truck to come put the stupid spare on which sits under the driver seat on the dodge caravan. I was livid. Anything McCarty Nissan dealerships do not buy anything from them they will screw people over an they arnt trust worthy. My father passed away in Oct 10th of 2018. Just a update of what happened.

I don’t know what you used, but it looked like you never sealed it. I thought you were going to say that was the JUNK sealant Ford used, then you said it was what YOU used. So, WHY didn’t you use 100% Silicone like others who have done this same job? That junk sealant failed because it wasn’t meant for a long term job like this, use 100% Silicone for longer lasting results, If correctly applied after an immaculate cleaning.
@amberericjones56945 жыл бұрын
We had put a bead of silicone under the crowl panel. We cleaned the area very well an put a good bead along the crowl. It did not work over time it failed. Yes ford did have factory silicone sealant but it failed as well. Like I mentioned ford put those computers in a bad spot they should of put it inside the vehicle knowing they cannot be subject to moisture... I don't care what you do these crowl panels will still leak its the way they are designed they do not seal even if you try to seal them. Thats why if it been me I would have gotten another harness an routed the pcm for inside. But dad used the van for a trade in on another van.

This is huge problem with ford vehicles. It’s annoying.

they put it there cuz they are ford man. are you really surprised?
@amberericjones56944 жыл бұрын
Nah wasn't surprised. Just one of the worse spots to put a computer. But theres alot of other vehicles not just ford that are the same way.

@@amberericjones5694 maybe in your case. but in my decades of working on vehicles, ford wins by a mile on the company that has sown me the the most dumb bad design crappy parts crappy materials etc, hands down ford is the winner... in my world and quite a few others ive talk to. nice to hear you have had more of a homogeneous experience :)

@@cookytrix lol some ppl have better luck with them some not so much. This van id say was a nightmare.. I like some of their vehicles I agree ford had some pretty what the crap were they thinking designs at times. But like I tell ppl. 97 under is when ford made good product. After 98 they went to crap.
