I sought out a full council meeting for the express purpose of seeing how it would work on a normal day. The Internet of course is having a lot of fun cheering on councilman Mays, and I believe that this is an example of why he has been in office for 9 years. This is a thoughtful intelligent man and if it were not for the fact that he was Black and boisterous, you all would be celebrating him i.e. Trump. I celebrate you Councilman Mays and wish you many many more years in service to the United States and Flint, Michigan and your constituents.

Eric Mays is entertaining but his biggest concern is himself and how he's perceived. He does not prioritize legislating on behalf of the first ward of Flint. He intentionally prevents the council from progressing when he's unhappy and obstructs legislative processes to fight petty battles. He has the temperment of an old grandma. This is one of the reasond why Black jurisdictions struggle. They support whatever seems loud and funny as opposed to effective. He's not alone. Most of the council lacks experience. But thats the unfortunate nature of poverty. The best and brightest leave and never return so youre stuck with this.
