Also people often forget the athletic component of players with great handles. As Ive gotten older and worked on range of motion (staying low), strength and balance, Ive noticed that my handles and ability to finish naturally got better without any fancy drills. Kyrie can get lower, explode and most importantly stay balanced in ways that almost no other NBA player can. He obviously worked on it but I bet he had a huge genetic advantage (just like DeAron Fox's speed or Ja Morant's vertical).

Everything you talked about regarding the mirror neurons I have seen to be true in the 'naturals' that are around me, there ability to observe and translate that observation to skills, is the very thing that is putting these guys at the top of the league. Love this topic!

Wow this is was an amazing episode! Kyrie is my favourite player of all time because of the way he plays, it’s like watching an artist at work. My 6 year old son plays football (soccer) and I’ve been very deliberate in the way I’ve taught him to handle the ball and who to watch and so far it’s paid off, but I’ll definitely use the lessons I’ve learned watching this further push his development

Going through Patella tendon rupture rehab rn 12 weeks post op. I had a ACL in the same knee, over a decade ago. I’d most definitely take a torn ligament over a ruptured tendon. The rehab is more grueling and the rehab exercises feel way more taxing to the point where I feel like no improvement aren’t being made. Even though I know improvement are present and obvious like bending my knee and walking 😂😂

Paul, QQ on your velocity based training comments with the squat. Do you ever use reverse bands to help increase the velocity? Im doing fat dont fly again and the 5-2 squat, penultimate jumps contrast method, you suggest .8MPS and i messed around with the reverse bands while going slightly heavier than 50% 1RM and really like the feel. Just wanted to get your take on this option.

how do you mesure how fast the squat in meter per second
@CJAlonzo413
@CJAlonzo413 2 ай бұрын
What if the fastest I can do a full squat is half a second but I can still jump with it? Like I've been able to still jump with 225 on my back(not high ofc) but those squats definitely aren't going up in less than half a second. I'd have to squat maybe only 155 or so to do it that quickly but I still have that deceleration phase at the very end so I wouldn't jump.

So at 17 never being exposed to that type of stuff as I kid how do I go about it now? Will it be impossible to get a kyrie handle ?
@dennis3327
@dennis3327 2 ай бұрын
Nothing is impossible. If you can see yourself in your mind dribbling like Kyrie you can achieve it. I suggest you try to master different drills and moves suggested by ‘experts’ and continue expanding - as he said, once you’re comfortable, make it more challenging to get back outside your comfort zone. Sure enough your handle will get tighter and you will naturally understand how you need to move your body to execute various moves.

Kyrie is a better finisher and dribbler and somewhat a better shooter but that depends Kobe has better footwork post game mid range game a better basketball IQ and was a better defender you saying Kyrie is more skilled then Kobe is the actual glaze here

I think people take offense cause some think you say someone is more skilled that they are automatically the better player but that's not always the case now if kyrie was 6'6" with the same skilled he might be in the goat convo but I think anyone with sense knows kobe is the better player but kyrie is more skilled especially by every metric offensively than anyone.... I think bron is better than kobe not by much but still better but kobe is definitely more skilled than bron but just cause your more skilled doesn't make you automatically better but in the same breath I don't get offended when people feel kobe is better than bron cause I understand their viewpoint & alot of that viewpoint is based on kobe be more skilled but my rebuttal even though kobe is more skilled no debate bron was actually more effective & even if you disagree just as effective in 5v5 situations but kobe tends to be better in 1v1 situations

Kobe the better, more skilled passer, Kobe the better shot creator (not just because of size advantage), and the best guard footwork ever. Off-hand just as good if not better. Kyrie has the best handle ever...... because of that we say he's the most skilled ever? I don't think so.
