Good video. Bought a Delphi pump, and the car wouldn't start after install . Was forced to use my original pump, (everything I connected correctly) but I took the top half of the new Delphi pump, and put it on the old pump I was forced to re-install. Never touched the sending unit on the other side (both sides were original) whole reason I did this, is because I kept getting a little bit of gas leakage on the driver side pump when filling the car to full. I replaced the O ring thinking that would fix it, but the connector on top of the pump kept filling up with gasoline slowly when after I dried it, and checked it. No more leakage, and re-used the old pump, assuring it would start and run fine. Became a huge headache. If nothing else, I'm hoping both will last, then next time, just replace both, using Mopar pump, and sender unit next time to assure no start up issues.

Before you start.. pull the relay to the pump ,start the car to burn up the pressure ....when your done turn the key 3 times to on postion with out starting the car to prime the pump ..wil start right away.

You have to splice wires with new pumps now, they changed the configuration. old harness its no good because the positive and negative wires are next to each other and that’s no good. So you do need to rewire the existing harness or just use new one that came with pump and follow the diagram

No the other pump is just a sending unit the one with gauge is the primary pump the pump behind the driver side

I've watched your video really good. I have a p0456 code on my charge which is evap code. I've see. So many different things online from fuel pump leak to filler tube evap canister. I do get gas smell when fueling. So I kind think it's the filler tube. I took my seats out to check the fuel pumps they both work properly and no pooling of gas. I'm going to the dealer soon. Will see.

@@GioDaCherry the fuel pump was cracked on the top so when i filled up got the gas pooling didnt notice when i first checked because i had less than half a tank. Its a known issue. I tried spectra pumps from autozone garbage would not read gauge correctly. Swapped 2 times same thing. Ended up going with delphi pumps u have to rewire harness very easy but they work great. 2013 dodge charger 3.6

Does the auxiliary pump always need to be replaced with primary? I’m told my fuel pump is bad, but I asked the rep not the mechanic if it’s both. She responded that it’s just the primary.

I always replace both of them as a set. One will not work without the other. If the passenger pump fails the drivers side pump will become loud and the motor will not start. Typically the fuel pump fuse will be blown out.

I’ve seen plenty of videos and they just replace the primary and leave old sending unit and it works just fine I’m not sure if he is right about changing both. I’ve seen multiple people just replace the primary and works just the same as long and you rewire the new harness correctly because they changed configuration it should work together

Everytime I push the pump top down it pops up, doesn't sit in like yours when you pushed it down.

It will set down, but you need to rotate it. It has spring tension. It is a little tricky because it does have to be lined up perfectly. If that doesn't work, compare the top part of the Fuel pump with the old one. The steel rods might be longer. Installation does require a little bit of adjusting in all directions
