Impressive video I know some departments do have light off roading and even the ability to go over a curb at speed and maintain pursuit. It's another thing to see one doing so. You might even be able to get away without the bent rim using different tires. Goodyear pursuit Rsa has with and without it and Nokian makes a few models that fit the 17" with aramid fiber reinforced sidwalls. Protects from both a blowout and tire from compressing enough to let the rim take a hit.

The car was taking a beating more in an up and down motion and in the front of the car. I think the inertia switch would have to be triggered by the force of a side impact more or less near the rear of the car.

Well, that's certainly one way to find out if there're any loose parts. I've owned at least a couple of cars that I would have had to go back later and pick up all sorts of things... exhaust pipes and mufflers, fenders and bumpers... possibly even a fuel tank with one of 'em. Never had a Crown Vic leave me walking though, no matter what I did to it. And yeah, I worked for the local Sheriff's office for a while, back in the late 90s.
