Like any weaboo too bad japan is one of the most xenophobic cultures in the world. I don't watch anime but I really love gundam, but I learned slowly after going there that sometimes its now the most american friendly place especially not knowing any japanese. The people in Korea and Thailand were far nicer especially Thailand.
@MrPanda_Cake9 жыл бұрын
It's just because people don't open up to it, and like in any case, the negative aspects are usually the ones we read first.
@ZakuAurelius9 жыл бұрын
Darkgodaphex Both good points. Japanese people can be pretty xenophobic. But there is a lot you need to understand, it's not really that simple. I can tell you from my experience of living in both Korea and Japan, I personally find the Korean people to generally be more... not xenophobic, but let's just say you get A LOT more stares in Korea, especially in smaller cities. In Japan people just ignore you mostly, which is actually a negative thing for some people at times as well. Anyway, it's very complicated. I do think a lot of people idealize Japan as this perfect magical place when, like any place, it's far from perfect if you actually live there for a while to experience the culture first hand.
@MrPanda_Cake9 жыл бұрын
That's true. I guess when it comes to most otakus, when you say "Japan" they just imagine Akihabara. It's just until you've lived or actually studied the culture/infrastructure of Japan properly, you don't 'properly' know it.

Man Japanese people are so lucky they have all this stuff. No wonder they really don't get into too much trouble over there, they have cool stores and hobbies. US kids have so many problems because they don't have activities and creative outlets like the kids in japan have so they go out and cause trouble.
@JAKphoenixify8 жыл бұрын
I think that's being unfair, and this comment validates that you know nothing about the culture. Japanese kids are cultivated with strong values, from an early age, and thought the value of hard work by doing School maintenance, this teaches them responsibility and respect. Every person over there from janitor to Banker is treated with a great deal of respect, and more often than not, kids are surrounded by an open culture to grow and evelop. A lot of kids in the US have problems because of the state of the country , either having to much or too little, and a lack of values. My father taught these to me at an early age and I turned out better than most people around me, who were consumed by alcohol and an empty lifestyle. So I don't think it has anything to do with creative outlets. The US has more than it's fair share of those. The problems lies with their values . Always has.
@adamrivera82958 жыл бұрын
+JAKPhoenixify is very correct. Everyone from a young age is taught amongst other good values: respect, humility, honor, and logic. It doesn't matter if you work at 7-Eleven or an International Corporation, you have pride and honor in your work, yourself, and your family but more importantly, you treat your friends and even strangers with the same honor and respect. In America, values like that are merely brushed over growing up. They are thought to be ingrained in children so they are usually (as in, not always) never strictly enforced. Some adults here even think kids talking back disrespectfully is "cute" or a "phase". Not in Japan, that behavior has ZERO tolerance and is disciplined out of a kid at a very early age and replaced by morals that value success and accomplishment for both you and your family name. It's simply a different culture and doesn't revolve around having many things to do or having access to more hobbies. But you're right about one thing, they are lucky to have SOOO many Mecha stores >,,

Yes, its more how the kids are raised here in the US. I lived in Japan for 14 years in northern area and Okinawa. Values and innocence are encouraged. Here, kids want to grow up too fast. My boys are 9 and we have a backroom dedicated just for modeling making, we enter contests and spend most of my time with them. Most parents just want to do own thing and let their kids do their own thing here. Also, modeling is an expensive hobby, but so is gaming...for me modeling with my kids is priceless.

Okay, I doubt anyone will care, but at 2:21 you can see a black Honda Civic on the street. That's actually a pretty rare car in Japan, because the coupes were built in Canada/The US and exported to Japan in small numbers(ironic, right?). You can even see the driver on the "wrong" side of the car lol. That one in particular has the infamous "hijacker" body kit from the first Fast and Furious film where they drive underneath the transport truck. Very cool spot even in 2015. I've followed the JDM scene for years and rarely see them in the wild like that
