supposedly if you keep reverse-accelerating long enough it'll trigger the "You're Winner" screen, because once you're going fast enough the game just registers you as being at every point on the map all at once
@zh842 жыл бұрын
I don't know about that but I have seen a video of someone accelerating backwards until they exceeded the speed of light. In theory if you left the truck to accelerate backwards long enough you could trigger an overflow and crash the game. Which is probably more fun than playing it.

I love that even the timer does not fit in the box they have drawn on the screen to contain it. Just so littered with mistakes. I also love that there is not a single police car in it, the premise being you have to avoid the police, but they figured why go to the effort of including actual police cars to avoid.

American trucking is a bit more like: "Look, officer, there ain't no law says my truck CAN'T be on fire and on the road. Now, you wanna splash a few buckets on 'er while you ride alongside me, you go ahead, but I gotta make St. Louie before nightfall."

Wonderful! The Churchill tank had a top speed of 10mph, which was a bit rubbish on the road. It also had the exact same top speed going up steep hills though, so clearly this inspired Big Rigs. Big Rigs & POSTAL III are prime examples of Why you DON'T outsource video game projects to Russia!
@Dr_Slash2 жыл бұрын
More like "why you don't commission video game projects if you aren't willing to allocate the appropriate budget". I'm sure that Stellar Stone knew perfectly well what they were getting for the money they'd paid. Besides, Big Rigs wasn't even made in Russia, the studio was Ukrainian. There are numerous examples of great games made in either country (e.g. Pathfinder and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.). Both great games and stinkers can be made anywhere in the world.
@ChaseMC215 Жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, Postal III.... that got delisted. And it was a shame because Mike J actually said that if they could, they would've made the game free, but they couldn't because they din't exactly... have the game?? Why was it delisted? StarForce went down. Yes, a DRM that people claimed it acted like malware, went down. And that's good because it shouldn't have been a DRM choice to begin with, why not SafeDisc or SecuROM (or SuckuROM as many call it)
@Max_Mustermann Жыл бұрын
To be fair, there have been some interesting games coming out of Russia, like for example Pathologic. But for some reason Ukraine seems to have a much more vibrant gaming industry with games like Stalker and the Metro series.

I really enjoyed this video. I had a good friend who actually bought this game at retail back when it came out. I was his "computer guy", and he called me after he bought it, convinced that there must be something wrong with his PC. I had to demonstrate that the game was just as bad on my much higher-end PC to get him to believe me. When he finally realized that the game was actually just that bad, he went on a lengthy, angry rant so epic that his children would periodically re-enact bits of it. It was truly amazing how wide the disparity in quality was for these "value" games. There was some truly innovative, fun games that gave hours of gameplay ("Gearhead Garage", anyone?) and then there was unplayable crap like this (and Activision's "Escape from Alcatraz"), and you never know which one you were going to get.

I'm sure they had plans to have trailers on the trucks, but the broken 'physics' 'engine' couldn't handle 2 moveable objects that were attached to each other. They couldn't even get bridges to work right.
