You, my friends are an adorable family, and without question, Nora is a lovely, lovely lady and inarguably, the A-list star of the show. Sorry Ben !! 🤪🤪 Great work that you guys are doing in building not one but TWO - simultaneously !! - 1:200 Titanics. I followed Nigel’s (from the UK) build of his Trumpeter kit with great interest ( NIGEL’s Modelling Bench) - or should I say, Nigel’s mega extensive corrective build of the kit. But sadly, his build seems to have hit the Doldrums for right now. But fear not, I have now discovered and been working through YOUR build series, and am enjoying every minute of it. Great to have discovered you guys, so thank you and well done for all the time, effort, entertainment, and… yes …. Nora’s endearing and infectious humour that you guys put into this project. Muchos appreciation, from Mark in the UK … in l’i’ll ol’ Wales to be specific. Have fun, happy modelling (yes, that’s with the correct UK spelling !! 🤪🤪), but above all, stay safe in these crazy times. ❤️❤️

Great job with the Elixander's PE set it looks very impressive. I have all of his stuff to do so the bulkhead issue was really informative. Thank you for taking the time to explain this properly for us. I can now plan how to approach this better after seeing your video. Many thanks! JH😉

Its looking great. I have the 1/350 and its a struggle so I'm putting it aside for the time being til I can figure out a solution to the issues. Paint her however you want. I painted mine with a gold sheer line, propellers and cap heads. My deck color is also wrong but when its all together actually looks good imo. So do it however you want it. Its sad that so much information regarding her actual appearance has been lost but it is what it is. Still get emotional when i see images of her wreckage at the bottom of the Atlantic :( she really was (again imo) a magnificent ship.

Bummer you didn't have the Chine 3D print version of the C deck bulkhead. I too have those ones, and the China 3D blows them all out of the water in regards to detail.

It’s a model master paint. The color is: Skin Tone Warm. It’s important to note that you have to spray it over a white base. Otherwise it ends up much darker.

I would really love a tutorial video on how to install the PE hull sides. Im dreading doing it and would love a watch a lessons learned video/tutorial
@TheMidwestModelShop3 жыл бұрын
I know. Unfortunately I do not have another ship or set of PE to do a video with. But I’ll tell you this. Mark very carefully where to remove the hull detail. THEN where you’ve attached the reinforcement pieces of PE on the back of the main side parts, remove more plastic to accommodate that metal. That part was missing from the instructions and my starboard side did not turn out nearly as nice as my port side did.
@matthewspindler143 жыл бұрын
@@TheMidwestModelShop Im confused to exactly what youre saying. Are you saying that the PE sides stick out to far if not enough plastic is removed from the mating surfaces prior to installation? Are you saying the enitre mating surface has to be sanded down for a better appearance and not just the pre existing plastic doubling plates?
@TheMidwestModelShop3 жыл бұрын
@@matthewspindler14 Yes to both. If you don't remove more plastic where the reinforcement strips of PE are attached, then the whole thing will sit too far off of the hull. Only removing the existing plastic plates will not be enough for a good fit. I recommend that you do A LOT of dry fitting before committing to any glue.

@@TheMidwestModelShop I have a the Elixander PEhull side. All the backing and doubling plates are already installed. How much would you charge for just appplying the sides? I live in Chicago.

Hi guys, I have another idea on how to sort out the bulkhead issue when using the PE hull panels. Rather than filling the gap at the ends of the bulkhead I used the original Trumpeter part as a template. There is loads of spare brass left over on the PE sheets which can be used for other things. I easily made a duplicate of the bulkhead but on a slightly wider piece of brass. Once the hull PE has been installed it's a simple matter of trimming the replacement bulkhead to the new width. It's a relatively simple piece to make with not much detail to reproduce. This could also be made using a thin plastic card too if the brass is a bit tricky for some modellers to drill out etc! I have made one myself from the brass which looks okay. Hope this helps some people. Regards JH 😀
@TheMidwestModelShop3 жыл бұрын
Great idea! I’m going to do something similar when I get to that step. None of these “issues” are something that can’t be quickly solved with a little ingenuity 😉

That is a good question. Because I always thought that “activity” took place on the bow of old sailing ships. However, at some point it may have moved to the back. I’m just not sure.
