The second episode in the 1/48 Kitty Hawk F-35B video build log series. I take a big gut punch from the internal component fit issues but come back swinging. Ditching the kit instruction sequence and bringing out the pot of boiling water to conquer the fit issues!

you can see how much is squashed into the F-35 B ! landing gear , weapons bay , engine , lift fan , dear god ! And we thought the Harrier was complicated .

Just clarifying a mistake in my video...I referenced installing and making modifications to the “wheel bays” in the video but they are actually the weapons bays. Apologies for the confusion. After getting the wind knocked out of me in part 2, I’m still a little disoriented 😁

I have had to use the hot water trick several times to repair warps in scale automotive kits. Glad it worked for you.

Yep, one of those "when all else fails" kind of things. Hit it with the boiling water and make sure you don't cause collateral issues ;)

Well done pulling the fuselage halves together using hot water to alleviate the warp... What's your thoughts on Kinetic Kits... I've often come close to buying one as they have some pretty cool aircraft subjects... I kinda get the notion Kinetic are still ironing out the kinks in their kits...

Thanks. It actually worked out better than I thought it would. As far as Kinetic kits, they are much better than Kitty Hawk. Sometimes (depending on the kit) I think they have made things a little more complex than necessary but overall, I have enjoyed the ones I have built. I have built their Super Etendard and a couple of their Trackers.

@@FlyingSModels 100% agree with you on needless complexity. There is no need for 22 pc ejection seats, when some pieces are literally 1 square millimeter. Another problem I have had with a lot of Kinetic kits, is that they insist on making extremely thin or small pieces mated to very large sprue connection points.

You've got that right. I'm not sure what some manufacturers are thinking when they make kits like this. It's obvious to me that they are not design by modelers, for modelers, or else they'd all be like Tamiya :)

I have this kit in my stash, I will have to try your boiling water tip if mine has the same issues. I got version 3 unbeknownst to me at the time of ordering, which is kind of a disappointment. I wanted to build this in Beast Mode with external weapons, and version 3 has no weapons! :-(

It fixed my issues for sure. Sorry about V3 issues...I wasn't even aware they had a 3.0. I'm building this one clean so if you need some weapons, I might be able to spare a few.

That model is overpriced and a flat out terrible model. You should not have to fix that many problems on a model. But good job!

Thanks, Isaiah. It's not a great model, that's for sure. But gives a lot of practice at fixing a bunch of shortcomings.
