Hi Justin. I'm another Pa guy with a 2017 4WD Colorado LT. I've done a lot of the same cosmetic mods, and I'm liking some of the ideas you've incorporated. I've also done a Fabtech 1.5 inch front end level and I like the look. I also had a bed liner sprayed in, Tri fold aluminum tonneau cover, vent visors and a bug deflector, window tint, LED's all around, alot of the same things you've done. Have a 2019 Colorado extended cab. Went with 2.5 inch leveling kit. Looks great no problems. Had it aligned when finished. Wheel spacers are not a good idea. Hard on wheel bearings,ball joints. Maybe go with a zero offset wheel instead. Stock is 33 mm I think.
@HorsePowerObsessed5 жыл бұрын
The wheels need to be pushed out in my opinion. They may wear those parts slightly faster but not a big deal for me. I've had them on for about 5k miles now and no issues.

Just bought a 22 Colorado Z71 long bed. It came with 32s A/T tires and I think all I need is 1 inch spacers to get them even with the wheel wells. Also I measured and I think I need a 2 inch level kit to level the truck. I'll measure again. Before I do anything I noticed my bed is 1/2-1 inch off centered. Working with the dealer to get it centered before I do anything first.

Thanks for your videos!!! I have done some of mods you have done on my 2015 Red Rock Metallic with no issues. 1.5" spacers, black fog light trim, black Redline badges & black bowtie emblems so far. Looking to do a number of others. One tip for eliminating wheel spin when tightening the front spacers/wheels though, if you have a 4WD. Instead of wedging a bar between the brake pedal and driver's seat, you simply put the truck in 4WD, and it locks the wheels fine for tightening purposes. Video on, dude. Watching them all!!!

I added the 1.5" wheel spacers too and the bolts poke just a tad (you really have to look)... However, the good thing about those new wheels is they have the indentions in the back that allow the wheel to still sit flush on the spacers so we are still safe. No cutting. The little poke sits right into the openings. I also have the leveling kit (which I love)... Please let me know if you see a difference in mpg after doing these two mods... Looking awesome!

Thank you! I haven't noticed any difference in MPG yet but we'll see. The studs seem to be covered but even if not the wheels have indents in the back that should take care of it.

Another great tutorial from Justin's Truck Garage. :-) The brake caliper paint makes the calipers look powder coated. I'd leave the ride height just where it is, but that's personal preference. What I like is that to the untrained eye the Colorado still looks stock. Even to a "trained" eye I can someone thinking "this had been modded, but what did he do?" You didn't leave a link where one can buy that custom brake pedal depressor breaker bar. lol Once again you've proven that necessity is the mother of invention. Save the Wave.
@HorsePowerObsessed5 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Peter! That innovention was born out of necessity for sure! When you don't have a choice you'll figure stuff out for sure. I am very pleased with how the truck turned out and you're right. While you can tell it's not stock, it's not a radical departure from stock either. This is pretty much how I wanted it. Keep the look but improve on it. That custom brake pedal depressor is a Snap-On breaker bar so you wouldn't even want to see the cost on that piece 🤣🤣

Hey man I just bought a 2019 Colorado Z71 and your vision for modifying the Colorado is excellent. I was pretty excited about using the fender flares and wheel spacers to give my truck a wider looking stance. HOWEVER, in my search for 1.5" wheel spacers I had a Chevy mechanic explain to me how they were a horrible idea and would likely result in a prematurely worn out hub assembly, bearings, and suspension. He went on to say that if/when that happened and I brought my Colorado to the dealership for "warranty work" (to repair/replace the hub assembly - the repair would not be covered because of the wheel spacers precipitated the damage and voided the warranty). So, before I bought anything I did more research. I spoke with 2 different truck modification shops in Springfield. Both agreed that the wheel spacers were a bad idea for the potential damage mentioned earlier. They suggested that I instead by wheels with a 0 degree offset as that would most likely get my tires in alignment with my fender flares without the wear & tear on the front end of my truck. What are your thoughts (i.e. are you concerned that the wheel spacers have such a bad reputation and may be an extremely costly alternative to just buying wheels with a (0) offset?

"buy"
@HorsePowerObsessed5 жыл бұрын
I have heard on and off about possible problems. My personal experience with them has been nothing but good. If you find and talk to any reputable mechanic he will give it to you straight. Spacers DO take life off of suspension components but we're talking years and thousands of miles down the road. This isn't going to blow your suspension apart in 3 months. Basically, yes it takes life off of your parts, but it's minimal at worst.

Hello again HPO!! Just a little advice, when you tq down anything, not only in the correct order, but in increments, like say 30% at a time. With 140, you could go 40,50,50, that helps keep aluminum parts from possible cracks. Good luck! Then re-tq after 100 miles. Also wheel spacers do add extra forces to the bearings.

I just put the 1 1/2” titan wheel spacers on my z71 Colorado and the front went on fine but when checking the bolts for being proud/ out too far at the back wheel, i had to grind about a 1/4” off the bolts to get them back and out of the way of the wheel. A credit card works great as a straight edge for checking...

I just installed a 1.5” front lift kit and the spacer was 3/4” and now the front and back are sitting right at 37” . My stock tires are 265/60-18. I drove it around the block and took it right to the alignment shop. They said the toe in was off 3-4 degrees and it was a good thing I took it to get an alignment after I test drove it and broke in the spacer, before it tore up my tires. Will check my clearances and see what the tallest and widest tire I can fit without it rubbing. I want to avoid cutting or modify anything. I have Goodyear fortitude stock tires and want something a little bit more aggressive. I’m hoping I can go a little bit more, possibly a 275/65-18 .

instead of jamming that bar into your nice drivers seat and risking permanent upholstery damage...just use the same bar with a rag around it and put it between the protruding wheel lugs and lower the floor jack enough so the bar will not allow the hub to turn because the end of the bar is on the driveway and can't rotate. I bought from a used car dealership and im a newby trying to figure out where to start on figuring out how much bigger i can go with tires and wheels but don't really know much or where to start. It has i think the factory 15 inch tires on it but where it looks like it has a leveling kit on it iy makes those tires look to small for the truck

Are the Goodyears noisy at all and do you have experience with the BFG KO2 or Hankook DynaPro MT? The stock tires are just not cutting it for what i need it for and i love myself some aggresive tires but that dont have alot of road noise. Also, would you recommend plastidiping the stock rims, getting them powder coated, or buying midnight rims, idk how much you paid for the set but im slightly envious! Beautiful build
@HorsePowerObsessed5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I do have some experience with the BFG KO2 tires. My friend has them on his Toyota. They sound exactly the same as the Duratracs that I have on my Colorado and in my opinion the KO2's don't look as aggressive. I don't think they are loud they do have a noise at low speed that the stock tires on the Z71 didn't have but it highway speeds they sound exactly the same. I personally would either powder coat or buy the midnight edition rims if you can. I found these used off of a ZR2 with less than 2,000 mi on them for $1,000. That included everything tires, rims, TPMS, etc.

I had this installed on my 2017 Z71 back in 2018. For the first few months it was great, then this knocking sound started whenever I would turn the wheel. I brought it back to the place that did it and they said it is a known issue and what they had to do was reverse the spacers (top to bottom and visa versa). they did that and the sound is gone. Now for the past year they are squeaking very badly. Only when I drive below 30mph. It's so annoying. Anything I can do to fix? Sprays or lubricants? Or just bring it back and have them fix it? Thanks for any advice.

On my twenty twenty four chevy colorado Lt.4x4 I bought the better wheel spacers almost four hundred dollars. And I. Also have the one inch lift on the front end. I have the flow master dual exhaust. Coming out from behind my back tires. And I. Threw out the truck led lights. Last fit. I also have. A strip light under the tailgate between a bumper. I think I paid almost four hundred for that. But it has all the controls Emergency lighting. Turn signals. Is running light. brake light. Reverse light. I also installed tiny monster headlights and high beam lights. I'm just waiting For last fit to come out with another's design Rear Brake lights. The one. S they were shelling were having problems with them. Also changed out the air filter as well as the cabin filter to K& N. And I put a Screen protector on the front of my radio.
