All the parts required are listed in the description of the video. I've used cable / zip ties on some of my connections because I'll be coming back to this and changing the cheapo catch can for a better one. Use jubilee clamps instead to ensure everything is tight.

Carlos Daniel thank you for taking the time to comment. As in the description you need 19mm internal diameter oil resistant hose to delete the pcv system. If you want to delete n249 valve and change fuel pressure regulator lines as I've shown in another video you need 4mm internal diameter pipe for those.

My son has a 2001. It was pretty cobbled together under the hood when he bought it. It pushes oil out under boost. Will sit and idle all day just fine. The "hockey puck" is gone. Seems to push the oil out of the oil fill cap. We've changed it and the pcv and it still does. Any advise? tia

That hose that connects to oil cooler housing - it has broken off when trying to remove it.. I knew it was going to crumble as you said and I bought a new one but didn't think part of it would be stuck in that area, I don't know how to remove it as it's quite tight in . Do you have any ideas? It isn't supposed to twist a certain way is it?

Do you think i can block that hole. And the 19mm on the top rocket cover goes thru oil catch can and back to intake. Is this feasible??? thanks

In connecting in this way you are applying full turbo suction to the crankcase. It would be better to install the catch can immediately after the crankcase one-way valve, with both the one-way valve to the inlet manifold and the regulating valve/"hockey puck" to the turbo intake connected to the catch can outlet.

Hi redline revs awesome advice on various mods on lcr's I've done a few of your modifications on my LCR with no problems at all really happy with results so far 👍 next week I'm going to attempt to do an oil catch can looks pretty straight forward to be fair one question I want to ask you bud I've heard mixed reviews on removing the hockey puck some say you need it for controlling the back pressure and that it could damage the engine if removed & some say it's fine with out it ? I'm stuck on this one I just wanted your opinion on this have you had any problems at all or heard of any issues on this ? Thanks redline
@matk22
@matk22 3 жыл бұрын
I know this is a year on... but the hockey puck is on the inlet side so there won't be any back pressure. When the turbo is on boost there will be negative pressure in the intake pipe. Hope this helps any one that has read this with the same question.

@RedlineRevs 7 жыл бұрын
Khai Elliot thanks for commenting. I had a used red silicone TIP which already had a 19mm straight pipe connector where the standard pcv system would lead to the TIP following the 'hockey puck' accumulator valve. If the original inset for PCV valve into TIP doesn't haven't that just get a straight pipe connector, should be 19mm, and clamp with jubilee clamps.

@ 2:10. . . I HATE that damn pipe with a purple Barney passion! Lol. The very lowest part of that ridiculous brittle plastic pipe that goes into the block had pieces stuck in the block itself, I had to fish it out with a flat head screwdriver and then used a vacuum cleaner with a homemade attachment to get any fallen pieces out of the hole. I have a 2004 B5.5 Passat GLS, of course with the 1.8T, mine is engine code AWM, Wheat beige with beige leather. My car is 4 MOTION (Audi's Quattro drive train with famous center diff) and is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. It's a unicorn here in the US. It only has 114,500 miles. I *LOVE* *LOVE* *LOVE* my car. I've replaced more parts on this car in 4 years of ownership than I've replaced on every car I've ever owned *combined* ! Most were Japanese, 02 Camry SE V6, 05 Corolla XRS, 96 Mazda 626 ES V6, 1988 Mazda 626 LX and many more, all cars were manual except the Camry. I bought my Passat because my brother once owned a 1988 Audi 90 Quattro 10V, light Beige with blue leather. (I also bought my Passat as a nonrunner for $750 dollars and since purchase, have just breached the $5,000 mark in total dollars spent.) Of all the cars either of us have owned we have the fondest memories of when we were young driving his 5 cylinder Quattro with locking rear diff. That's been about 25 years ago now. I'm now 48 and little brother is 44 and since those days we've both been through hell. . . so hopefully, if everything goes well, in the next few days I'll be purchasing a low mileage 3rd gen EA888 2018 Audi A4 Quattro with the 6 speed manual, the last year of any stick shift Audi sedan here in the US and as such, another Unicorn and when I do I'll be passing my treasured Passat on to my little brother, so he can make more memories. I've already replaced the timing belt, water pump and peripherals along with a new Victor R, MLS head gasket in the driveway with hand tools. Thanks so much for the video, I enjoy watching any content about my highly celebrated 1.8T 20 valve engine. I'm unsure if I'll do the delete yet but probably will just for my brothers sake, because he isn't mechanically inclined like I am, so I want to eliminate any and all parts with the potential to cause issues. Thanks much for this!

Jafin John I get the same thing in my 1.8T AMU TT. My hoses are ran pretty much identical but I getting some crazy blow by on a freshly built motor. (I have the ECS Tuning Baffled Catch Can, and it fills up with the milky color water your talking about in 3-4days.) im honestly considering trying to repurchase the 034 kit again for our cars and hooking up the PCV Tee back into the vacuum port on the intake manifold, but leaving out the “hockeypuck” or PCV Regulator to see if that helps. If you figure out the problem with yours please let me know and I will try to do the same if I make any progress.

ryszard witek hi, you can throw away the hockey Puck as the oil catch can will take over its job.
@azman29810
@azman29810 4 жыл бұрын
You need to leave that hockey puck in between the turbo intake hose and catch can other wise you create back pressure in the rocker cover and damage the engine, unless you vent the catch can to atmosphere. That’s what it’s for trust me.

Removing pcv removes the assembly to help the brake booster recover quicker so is not the best idea. And removing the puck PRV completely is also a very bad idea.... now your turbo can suck from the cam cover and the PRV isn’t there to stop that which is what it does. Sorry dude so much is wrong in that. The PRV needs to be there last point into tip, catch can is fine before that valve! N249 delete is an anti lag device so removing that is also bad advice from the internet.
