Very helpful video, thanks redline, but to give myself more room to manoeuvre, I’ll disconnect the breather pipe, it’s only the cost of a circlip , but keep sensor connected

I Just taken my Throttle Body off and unplugged it and everything seems fine... Idk, if its because i have a tune on my 20th AE, but it works totally fine. with out re calibration.
@davesicesisacrook31526 жыл бұрын
I had a control difference intermittent error on my Octavia 2000 1.8T and unplugged the 7 pin plug to clean it. I had no problems with having to recalibrate afterwards. I read elsewhere it recalibrates automatically. It's also safer to unplug the lead so there's no power to the throttle motor. Mines a bit different to yours it has a manual cable on the side of it. Yours looks electric only. I like your video.
@mariustanase41955 жыл бұрын
Yes, indeed. But if you unplug it you will end up being unable to clean the valve in the open position, correct? I am also afraid to clean my throttle while still connected, but I'm also guessing that the most problematic deposits are around the valve edges.

Thought I’d check what advise, if any ?, I could find on cleaning throttle body on my Seat Leon cupra before I started, glad I did, my first mistake would have been to completely remove it sensors too, didn’t know it would have needed calibration if I had, but what would be involved in recalibration of the throttle body ?, thanks, Ferry.

so i seen loads of videos of people taking the thing out and unplugging the breather hoses and plug then cleaning it properly in a buck or whatever but whould it loose programming if the plug is removed?
@RedlineRevs6 жыл бұрын
James Hubbard thanks for commenting. yes it will need to be recalibrated IF you unplug it. It's possible to clean it effectively without unplugging as I've shown in the video.

Is the throttle body different for the diesel or practically the same? Asking for a buddy that has the diesel. Also, why couldn't you push the butterfly valve to clean the other side of the throttle body? Is it electrically controlled? Do you risk damaging it if pushed? I just found it peculiar having to remove the whole assembly and put the car on ignition 1 to clean it. I've cleaned the throttle body on my Camry and just pushed the butterfly valve to clean either side. Thanks for an informative and thorough video.
@socalguy8295 жыл бұрын
diesels don't have throttles, they are controlled by amount of fuel, not amount of air. the throttle body is electric in this car (except on early models) so it will damage it if you just push it.

I'm really afraid to clean the valve on the edges with the contact on.isn;t there a risk to create a short on the motor of the throttle caused by the cleaning liquid?
@emotionalintelligence7765 жыл бұрын
Your question shows a lack of understanding why you'd use a carb cleaner or variant but better to ask than not. First it's a mechanical device, not an infant and altho you can break or fudge some things yes CS usually will keep you safe. There are different types of cleaners with some being able to be directly applied to electricals while some can be used indirectly as long as it dries completely before using.

Okay so I have a few questions regarding my 2005 GTI 1.8t. I will be cleaning the throttle body the correct way thanks to you guys. The issue that I’m having with it right now only happens when I fill up on gas (I don’t over fill) After a fill up and I start my car, it will start up at normal rpms but then immediately drops down to 300 rpms and I have to give it gas until the rpms go back to normal. Then the car runs perfectly fine until I fill up again and then does the same thing. Could it be the throttle body? The fuel injectors? The whole EVAP system? Idk and I hate guessing because I don’t have as much money as I’d like to in order to guess with. So I really need help, answers, anything... It just really sucks!
@RedlineRevs6 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for commenting. You could still clean throttle body but I would also try coolant temperature sensor: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXrUoWulhdiHh6c
@Sirintegrahellsing6 жыл бұрын
Redline Revs Thank you for your help, however, I’ve already replaced that sensor a few months ago, the car still has the same issues. My big guess is that it is emissions related, could it be the charcoal canister? I should also add that every time I turn the car off, I hear popping in the gas tank area. I just replaced the fuel pump and filter quite recently so it can’t be those. There must be a leak somewhere that’s allowing either too much air or not enough gas.. I really don’t know

It's a bite of a lazy way of doing it? Your where taking the throat of any ways so why not clean it once you've taken it of ? You still have carbon around the plate if you use a screw driver you'd be able to get it of you shouldn't be able to see and light coming through where you mist the bits
