The problem is that vw has mounted the egr connection on the intake in the wrong direction, which means that the egr gases go directly to the damper instead of towards the intake valves. So cleaning or replacing the damper then reassemble the connection on the intake SO clean it and the pipes aswell then rotate the EGR plate 180 degrees that one in 2 torx screws

@@TEAMR4ULTV mine was really bad too. I was only getting 37 mpg and after cleaning the throttle body I am now getting 57 mpg. Also i can't believe how hard it was to get that pipe back on. Very challenging job. Once again thank you and I've liked and subscribed 👌

Every video I've seen on this car a couple yrs older than my 2012 and couple yrs newer and I yet to find the same set il as mine has the cooler, egr, and throttle seem like there all tied together and can't be split apart unless you take all three out as a whole. Because there is bolts hidden and can't see them unless the entire unit is off the engine. Because I don't have that hose at the top which would make this job so much easier and make more sense. anyone else with this same issue? What steps did ou take in removing this ridiculous mess.

I dont have a check engine light on my 2012 vw passat tdi se but i have w code on th obd scanner says throttle valve control system mulfunction, could you help me with this issue, i serached a lot online and I couldn’t find anything helpful and the codes i have are 2746 and 2745. The car also makes a strange ticking sound when its in park only, if i put in in gear or reverse it goes away, and when i put it back on part it comes back after 30 seconds maybe. I dont know if this issue is connected but i would appreciate your help a lot because i do not want to replace the throttle body before knowing what the issue might be. And thanks a lot for the video i think it was really helpful

You can clean it may start working. My seat altea XL have same problem. Mechanic clean it and work perfect and engine light dispersed. This guy is a 🌟

is there any tricks to getting the throttle body hose back on?? it was very difficult to get off but really does not want to go back on

You just have to bend it and try to get it on. Not the easiest I know. Just take your time

@@TEAMR4ULTV i had tried for like 30 mins yesterday, thought about it overnight. today got it in 1 min by unbolting the plastic innercooler line thing it attaches to on the bottom, attaching the tube to the throttle body first then attaching that back to the innercooler line thing and re bolting it in. hopefully will be helpful for others. your video was most helpful for this topic, thank you!

I have a audi a3 1.6 tdi s line it's a 62 plate with 120 on the clock, the car auto revvs, sometimes going over 1000rpm or just below, also the fan kicks in sometimes, am not sure if it's the throttle body or the Dpf auto regen... Have yu had any issues or come across anything like that? Ohh no engine codes BTW

Why you didn’t spray the throttle? Is it causing any problem or you just didn’t do it?

I did spray cleaner in the throttle housing to clean it. Make sure you dry all the cleaning agent off. I never spray anything whilst the car is running because you dont want the car to rev up

Hey just bought a car at auction with this problem. Tested peddle on the code checker no problems. Cleared code hour later comes back on 2012 auto vw passat blue motion 170k Do I have to do what you said in this video ?
