I live in farm country in Illinois I see woods and fields where I live, not trying to sound like a know it all but the farm work doesn't bother deer like people think. This is a part of their life cycle. It's normal.

this bucks genetics played the biggest role, however you are right I am sure others around hunted this buck, put out minerals which allowed him to reach is genetic potential,not all bucks will become giants maybe one out of 100

Yeh hunting is the reason there's not 150" + deer everywhere. I live outside of Chicago surrounded by forest preserves. No hunting. And the amount of 150" sheds i find and some knocking on that 190 200 mark is incredible. And there isn't a farm within 30 miles of me. Shows u how much hunter pressure is the cause of not alot of trophy mature bucks

Hey I’m 17, I started hunting last year and rly exited for this year, do you know what time I should be ratteling in south Michigan? Like a certain time of year they fight? Rut or something?

I hunt in Michigan as well. I have a lot of experience rattling. Typically in Michigan the last week of October and first few days of November have been most fruitful for me. However Michigan bucks aren't as responsive to rattling as they are in other states like where he is hunting. Lighter and shorter rattling sequences typically mid morning around 9:30 am or 1 hour before dark. If you know you have a territorial buck in your area you might be able to get him up and out of his bed early if he suspects another buck his moved in on his spot. However, most people in Michigan over rattle and it ends up educating the deer and thus you have a lot of deer who don't come in to rattling at all, or the ones that do come in are 1 year old scrub bucks. Hope this helps young man.

My recommendation would be mid-October through mid-November. Bucks will often come in downwind and can happen fast. Sometimes less is more and sometimes more is more lol when it comes to when and how much/loud to rattle. Good luck!
