Patch on this is now incoming no doubt, although I don't think it will arrive soon, I did hear the PP number is generated from an instant race simulation being run. The result of how well your tune/setup performed on things like max speed, grip and breaking = PP

@@MorrWorm8 this does make sense tho, if we both had the exact same car but your ride height was low and mines was high, your car would perform better in most scenarios. The PP model is great in principle, it just needs to be tightened up so it can't be exploited.

Oddly enough I have an 86 build. There is a glitch in the tranny going beyond a certain point. When you set it really high, the PP goes down but when you go to the actual event in the race itself, the gears reset. Seems to happen when the last gear gets set off the chart. 1-5 will reset to normal but last gear with . Look like here you can just deliberately set it that way to game it. I was doing this with the 86 GR4 car though, not AWD though so 2.05 is the best I can get in it.

One thing I found is that rear ballast definitely affects tire wear. If you're able to put down power with ballast closer to 0, then I would run that to save your tires.

Thanks John! I'm starting to get more comfortable with tuning in GT, but I think I still prefer Forza's setup options. Having tire pressures is pretty nice, and the telemetry makes some settings a lot easier to dial in. In GT, there's hardly any data to work with, so most of it is just trial and error for now.

I loved racing 450pp with Sports Softs back on GT5 and GT6. It was the only restriction, the car should have 450pp on SS tyres. But now on GT7 we cant do that, because the tyres change PP (which is ok) but also the CONFIGURATION of the parts you install also change the PP, like shown on the video. It makes a PP based race really exploit based

Is the G70 best because of the exploit? I've been using the GTR because I'm determined not to use meta cars, and you can't really do the PP exploit as efficiently as the G70 seems to. The GTR has 542HP, but even with very short gearing it doesn't change the PP all that much. I got 630pp without having to do the exploit on that car, and it's very fast and on straights it can go much faster than the other cars and stay within the PP limit I actually used your ghost to test myself earlier and the GTR is great everywhere BUT the initial acceleration, where somehow no matter the gearing the G70 is just massively superior despite having much less horsepower

Bruh tell me about gt86 its pp is way more than 630 and atenza is like below 630 mark, with turbo with 4wd... And gt86 is NA and fr and what because it's light? Funny right but yeah I'm using gt86 cuz it's fun. I'm also learning how to tune my car because of its "underpowered-ness" aspect of it. I managed to get 4th highest but I think I lack straight line speed or maybe I'm just too dumb on corners but yeah u are right they should balance the game cuz meta cars are becoming a thing and if you don't use you surely lose. I don't own either car, so I can't say for sure. Here's my process for other cars though: -Put 6th gear as close to 5th as possible -Shorten Final Drive until Gs @ 150 are 0.00 -Max out 6th gear -Set 5th and then other gears accordingly

@@kbsmithgaming9560 just got a Viper, and this gearbox seems to work with full downforce: Top speed: 270 Set Final to 5.000, then put 6th all the way left. Then, set Final to 3.536 and use these gears: 1st: 2.335 2nd: 1.723 3rd: 1.372 4th: 1.154 5th: 0.986 6th: 0.303 6th should be that number already - don't touch it or it'll break and revert back to a "normal" ratio

@@asvpxjase this is easy What he said, take it with a grain of salt though I haven't tested it yet: There is a way to add some ballast and tune the power to gain a huge advantage over players who dont know how to play with the performance points... Add weight and decrease power and you can change your gearing to make you go faster... Shorter gears means you will have a slower top speed but get up to speed faster

It seems that when game calculates that you can't reach 150mph due to gearing (or any other handicap, like ballast) it drops rotational G for 150mph to 0 and this drops pp. You can see this by just changing 6th gear 1 click around 253 target. I built GT-R like that and can reach 149 on straights. Acceleration just a tad worse than your ghost. This is clearly broken.

When u drop a gear that far below 1:1 ratio meaning an over driver gear .5:1 ratio the hp and tq to the wheels is half of the power the car actually makes and that gear is so Far from 5th meaning it will drop out of boost as well so does make sense that it drops the pp

That's not quite what's going on here. There's actually a "sweet spot" for 6th gear in some cars with this exploit, including the G70 here. If you go make it shorter OR longer, PP goes up. There's some weirdness happening with the performance simulation that isn't quite clear.

The PP system in Gran Turismo has functioned like this for years. If this video gets it enough attention to finally get it fixed, then I did my job. If it doesn't get fixed, then it's not fair to keep tribal knowledge from people and leave them wondering why they're always seconds off the top times. It's necessary to share this either way.

Tuning can be good for Sport mode when done correctly. They just need to address bugs like this. From what I've heard, these exploits existed in older GT titles and are known issues, so there's no excuse from the devs on this one.
