Yes, I build this KIT only with the hand tool that I showed at the beginning of the video. Since I can't take my workshop with me on vacation))). But this KIT is difficult for a beginner. It is desirable for you to already have experience working with wood, glue, etc., and to know at least elementary constructions of building real boats.

This kit is definitely not for beginners. To build it you need to have minimal experience with wood and glue, etc... Also know the construction of real boats, as you will have to simulate some details, such as rabbet, etc...

Hey Olha, glad to see you are well and building more boats for us to admire. These shallops are very sea-kindly, with their rounded chines and lap-strake planking. I replaced two bilge-chine planks on one way back in the early 1970's - was quite a chore, and we had to resort to steam-bending the planks. Amazed at your friend Pavel's kit - VERY exacting, and I think the jig for building is almost more difficult than the actual boatbuilding. Also amazed that, in the midst of a violent war, he manages to keep his business going. Maintaining that LASER cutter is not easy, even in peace time, and sourcing the materials must be doubly difficult. Considering ordering one of his kits just to help him along some. Are you of the Ukraine also? If so, I pray for your family and friends who are still there. Just ordered one of his kits - delivery in 10-20 days. Viking ship should be fun!

Olha, Again, Thank you so much for the build that you are doing on Pavel Nikitin’s model kit of the Shallop. In 2010 the NRG’s annual Conference was in Annapolis, Maryland. In walking about the harbor I came across a full scale rendition of the Shallop. The State of Maryland had commissioned the boat to be built for a teaching aid of the Colonial period. I have ten photos of the boat that you may find of interest. If you think that Pavel would like them, then by all means send them. If this is of interest, please advise how I can send them. Hello Olha, one question.Do you applied Tung Oil on the deck before all fittings are glued or after? I have troubles with the glued parts if oil is applied on wood before .... unions are very weak.

It is for this reason that I use oil already at the end, when everything is glued... If you want to tint during the construction process, then use alcohol-based stains, with them you can continue to glue without problems... P.S. If it is already too late, then before gluing the parts, sand the place of gluing with big grains sandpaper, or even better, if possible, put pins (made of wire or toothpicks)...

Very often, the kit can get into a wet or dry environment, in stores or during delivery. The material may deform and you will have to sand everything first. You can do it perfectly with a file or sandpaper and without glue! So that when put together a jig, your parts do not bend! And only when all the parts are well fayed, then everything can be easily glued together...

Hi Olha, have you ordered the kit recently( i.e. during the war)? Just want to know how fast and reliable shipping is during this horrible invasion( am I right it's shipped from Ukraine?). I'm in Canada, so it should be +\- the same issue as for you in USA. P.S. Supporting Ukrainians, especially creative Ukrainians -- that's what all civilized people should do nowadays!

But next month, our warehouse in Germany will also start working.

Pavel has warehouses in Bulgaria and Germany to ensure the operation of the store. In the part of Ukraine where hostilities are not taking place, post offices have already started working, although there is still a risk of losing it before the kit crosses the border... I took my kit straight from the conveyor when Pavel was packing the boxes. I came to Kyiv as soon as it became possible. It took 4 days for me. I don't know how fast a parcel can go to Warsaw, because now all parcels from Ukraine go to Warsaw. There are now queues at the border several dozen kilometers long...

Looks great but so much wasted wood in the jigs. My next model is the Bluenose from a company in China built the same way, your videos will certainly help me.

Thank you! These jigs are made of MDF, so no waste of wood... I know that Kit. For the first time, the Chinese really made a project, and did not steal someone else's development. But due to their previous fame they are banned from many shipmodeling forums due to their pirated copies of previous kits. So be careful if you want to post pictures of your model anywhere.

Рад что Вас по прежнему занимает постройка этого набора. Кажется Вы интересовались как будет сохранена жесткость местоположения шпангоутов относительно киля. Надеюсь сегодня Ольга ответила на Ваш вопрос, а так же воочию показала, и Вам в том числе, для чего нужен первый стапель и соответственно второй. Ну и конечно то что у них принципиально разные задачи. В дальнейшем, уверен Ольга, так же эффектно покажет и назначение третьего стапеля, который также есть в наборе.

@@PavelNikitinShips да, интересно. Меня интересуют чужие технологии :). Я собирал подобную модель на сплошной болванке. Но можно сделать на сплошном фанерном наборе. Здесь только два заполнителя шпангоутов, а можно сделать на все, и тогда можно на них собирать, без первого стапеля. только киль ставить в после шпангоутов. Ещё хочу посмотреть на малковку таких необычных шпангоутов.

​@@zchz2224 Можете собирать без стапеля, так в чем проблема то ? Собирайте. Вы описываете технологию от "Мастер -Корабел" , так она и достаточно древняя и на мой взгляд малоэффективная. Было бы у меня другое мнение, я не разрабатывал бы свою технологию. Фанеру применять на шпангоутах при открытых бортах до кильсона ? Ну это уже перебор. Необычные шпангоуты ? Ну в 17 веке они именно такими и были, что же в них для Вас необычного ?) Или Вы с Уильямом Бейкером поспорить хотите? Смело )
