I wonder how detailed the instructions are as to history. looking at the frame joins across each other (no scarf) I am assuming these boats were either knocked down and stored on board ship and meant to be assembled by unskilled people (carpenters maybe but not shipwrights), or the pieces were cut on arrival but again, design intended to accommodate unskilled manpower. Just ordered the kit so will soon see.
@OlhaBatchvarov4 ай бұрын
And so it was. The boats were delivered in parts and then upon reaching the "New Land" they were beaten together!

Really great!!! A technical question has intrigued me for a long time. How does Pavel get each already bent plank? I imagine that the design is done first on a 3D software and that this software allows the development of each plank for the CNC mahine. What software?
@OlhaBatchvarov2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! The 3D model is first built by Pavel's colleague, and then Pavel tests each piece and makes changes if necessary. Because even a perfect 3D model does not take into account the behavior of each type of wood... Beech is very elastic and therefore it can even forgive small errors in the radii)))

You did very well to bring light to a Ukrainian friend. Thank you for all of the content. Want to purchase this kit to USA and certainly want to support a Ukrainian! But it seems not possible and felt very scammy, took all my information and then nothing….. Not saying it was a scam but I do hope Pavel can find a way to support buyers in USA. It is a shame I am sure I am not the only one that followed the link to try and buy this kit. Both for its apparent quality and to support a Ukrainian business. I was disappointed after sending my personal information.

Amazing work as always Olha! Just wondering, do you find it easier or harder to plank Caravel planked ships compared to Clinker planked ships?
@OlhaBatchvarov2 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the specific ship, scale, and wood! For example, there are plankts made of beech wood, which forgives even if you incorrectly glue the radiant part of the plank somewhere, because the splank is very easily deformed, especially under the influence of heat...
