You don't have to worry about being controversial about China/HK/Macau, don't overthink it. They are all 1 country (China), but China has granted them 2 systems like economy/law which HK and Macau have separate ones. China still gets the last say if need be, but they pretty much let them do what they want as long as it doesn't interfere with the security. Macau and HK are under Chinese military protection and China allows both those cities to have their own foreign relations in international settings like WTO etc.

I don't believe that Vegas only stRIPS people off for $6,500,000,000USD, but I do buy the fact that perhaps that's all casinos CLAIM for taxable revenue. USA doesn't have death penalty for capitalist scum, for that no one does it quite like China, the only country where the rich literally schedule their own date for an organ transplant since they don't 3d print organs yet just use your imagination... Back to the tourism industries they should be taken into account in the entirety of income as a whole as that should be analysed as it's a better representation of local economic impact.

Hello, I just watched your video about visiting ShangHai and I am surprised to see that you visited Macau! I am a Macanese and I can explain the concerns and confusions which you were having during the filming:) 1. The streets in the beginning were quiet because those aren't popular tourist destinations and there's nothing much there. Even for Macanese, we won't walk there at all. 2. It's absolutely ok to say that Macau was colonized by Portugal as we also learn about this at school. This is our history. 3. There are some special events or fairs in the Tap Seac Square throughout the year. During the festivals like Chinese New Year and Christmas, you will find a lot of booths and even temporary rides being set there, and you will find lots of people! 4. There are quite a lot of old streets in Macau which somehow look identical to the ones in Portugal as those areas were built by the Portuguese. And what's so unique about Macau is that you can easily find a Chinese temple sitting somewhere nearby a church, or a Chinese style building near a Portuguese one. I hope you did enjoy your trip!

the egg tart you’ve tried was probably a bad one😂 Macau is quite famous for its “portuguese” tarts, which is a sweeter version of regular chinese egg tart, more custardy, with some burns on top and a crispy tart base. It’s not the same as the original Portuguese tart, but it’s worth a try! Hope you’ll revisit this small city again, cause there’s definitely more to explore! ❤

The essence of Macau is inside of these luxury hotels and casinos, everyone could go inside and visit even if u don't stay in there. The scale of the interiors are crazy, so absolutely go inside of each hotels. They got small Venice, manmade beach, ferris wheel on 31st floor, and building high fish tanks.....so much to see, and each hotel has their own unique, I got amazed everytime.
@davidwongnyc
@davidwongnyc Жыл бұрын
There’s a lot of other places you might like to visit…. like Chengdu and see pandas and Sanya, which is a resort island in China, aka the Hawaii of China. But be warned, it’s expensive. Atlantis Hotel has rooms that looks into a massive fish tank so in the middle of the night, you can have any number of marine animals swimming past your windows, but those are costly at over $8,000 USD a night. Also, Las Vegas isn’t that packed most of the year either. Streets are usually emptied as most would be staying by the pool in their home resort because it gets too hot in the desert during the summers. And just like Vegas, most of the shops and restaurants are inside the hotels and casinos, not on the streets.

Most people go to Macau specifically to gamble, so as soon as they get off the ferry or port, they take the casino's free bus directly to the casino. Macau has much more to offer. Come back again soon and explore the city and the food. ❤ And a side note, we use credit cards a lot but usually in bigger stores or restaurants. Small eateries don’t usually accept credit cards because of the charge they have to pay the bank or credit card company. Some stores also limit the use of credit cards for purchase above a certain amount, like MOP 200. So prepare some cash and you can use HKD but the stores will use a 1:1 rate. I had to laugh at your comments about crowds in Macau. Macau is one of the busiest places I've ever been. The place you want to go if you want to feel like a sardine. You got lucky, it wasn't busy when you were there. It has one of the highest population densities in the world and this coming from a guy who lived in Hong Kong. That jerky is amazing, I alway buy tonnes when I'm there. You should also try Portuguese Chicken, a fusion Chinese/Portuguese curry dish.

A travelling tip in Macau. There are many free casino shuttle buses from the ferry terminal to the casinos and they run in every 15 minutes. The last time we were there, we took the one to Sand Lisboa and walked to the Ruins of St Paul's. After that we took the same bus back to the ferry terminal and changed to the one to the casinos in Taipa. At night we took the same bus to the ferry terminal to catch the ferry back to HK. :)

I spent 3 full days in Macau in 2012, visiting from Australia. Here's what I noticed: - A lot more Mandarin spoken, compared with Hong Kong. The whole place was bursting at the seams with Mainland Chinese tourists, speaking both Cantonese and Mandarin. Most of those street jerky sellers just turn their backs on any non-Asian tourists approaching for a sample. It seems like the whole place is focused on milking as much money as possible out of Mainland tourists. Seems like nobody wants anything to do with tourists of European appearance. - I noticed what Josie noticed too, so much signage in Traditional Chinese at the top, then Portuguese underneath but no English. Luckily I could understand 75% of the Portuguese signage, knowing Italian and having studied Spanish. - Nobody speaks Portuguese from what I saw. There seemed to be some Portuguese-speaking business people around, speaking Portuguese amongst themselves, most likely on business trips coming from the Lusophone world. Security guards, police, retail and hospitality staff all seemed to know enough English. I wondered if they ever have issues with tourists trying to speak to them in Portuguese. To me it felt they would absolutely need to know Mandarin, because the whole place was awash with Mainland tourists. - The colonial architecture, Portuguese-style pavement is beautiful. - The coolest moment was when I took a bus down to Coloane Village, went to the famous Lord Stow's Bakery and sat on the foreshore. You can see over the water to Mainland China, you can see apartment buildings and cars driving on the wrong side of the road. It was so cool to just look over the water and see people going about their lives in Mainland China.

Macau was a Portuguese colony for nearly 500 years. It was not returned to China until 1999. At that time, the Chinese emperor granted the Portuguese a piece of land near the sea for the purpose of stocking goods and supplies. In the past, before China was invaded by Mongolia, Cantonese was actually the official language of China from the Qin Dynasty to the Southern Song Dynasty.

Hello, I would like to explain why they use bamboo to build houses. Because Hong Kong and Macau have strong typhoons during most of the season. If the fences are built with steel bars or other stronger materials, they can be easily blown down. However, bamboo has the characteristics of high toughness, high strength, and easy portability, so it is used in many construction places in Hong Kong and Macau.

@@josieliftsthingsYou seem to be missing the point. People have been suggesting to visit sites that you missed. But you always respond with a lot of snark. For someone who advocates being kind and nice in your videos, you don’t carry through with these virtues in your responses. LMAO

@@ThomasMcCarthy-m3j You seem to be the one missing the point. I don’t want to have seen anything else. Again, disagreeing or not wanting to do something in my own video is not being snarky. And again, it doesn’t seem like you are very competent at comprehension. For someone who wants me to ‘be kind’ so bad, you aren’t great at practicing what you preach, Thomas. ☺️

Yeah, it looks another Lisbon in the world. HK dollars and Chinese Yuan are accepted in Macau, and there are free shuttle buses between casinos in Macau Peninsula and Taipa&Cotai Island under the same group.

Macau people here, you saw a lot of fences because of the grand prix 70th anniversary, and i appreciate that you walked through not just the casinos but also the residential area all the way to Ruins of St. Paul. And also taking a bus in Macau is just 3 MOP(appro. 40 cents US), that's freaking cheap. Last but not least, Macau always welcome and next time you can go try some Macanese food i guess.

Why don't you take bus? It only take you 63 HKD per person. And you can pass by famous Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. I heard the bus' run-time is 24hr.

Thanks for Video update of Macau. I haven't been there since I was a kid in 80's. The only Casino there was the Lisbon. Dad leave my brother and I at the kids Arcade and him and his mates went gambling for hours.... Macau has change heaps. They are famous for their baked goods like Portugese egg tart, egg tarts, armond cookies, etc... Shame you didn't get to try them and some Portguese cuisine.

I did a similar day trip from HK with ferry 5 years ago 😊 It's funny I went to the same pork chop bun restaurant, I recognised the cute pigs, however I didn't get the one inside a croissant 😅 I took a bus to the Southern end of Macau where you find the old fishing village of Coloane and beaches, and did the same thing trying to give change to the driver, until he pointed to the slot where to put it! Otherwise I used free Casino buses whenever available. Interesting thing to note that to return to the ferry terminal, I had to get a free bus ticket inside Grand Lisboa Casino, I guess that's how they get some people to gamble, but I managed to resist 😁 Did you notice if the return ferry was more expensive at night? Back in 2018 I paid 171 HKD in the morning, and 200 HKD in the evening, both with Turbojet, there was an extra cost for night ferries. Thanks for raising that you had issues using Visa and Mastercard, I didn't notice since I only used cash, and yes it's very convenient that they accept HKD!

Of course it’s not busy on the streets in the casino area, casinos has their massive shopping, eating areas attached underground. They have shopping pathways going from one casino to the other. Moreover they have their own free shuttle buses going to the piers and to other casinos very often. Tourists take those buses to different casinos and to other parts of Macau.
