Can you use mod podge to do a transfer instead of gel medium

Yes, of course. You can use ANY glue/adhesive depending on the surface you are transferring to. If in doubt, use your chosen glue to glue a piece of REGULAR printer paper to the surface. If you are unable to remove the paper after the glue dries, it will work. If you can peel regular paper off using your glue of choice, then it won't hold and it won't work. That's how you determine whether you can use this glue or that glue for a transfer using the Quick Transfer Paper (that will come off, of course!)

Is the Liquitex gel medium matte 5323 white what you used?

There are no numbers on the container such as "5323" etc. It is simply Liquitex Professional Acrylic Mediums - Matte Gel. 16 oz. I also use Gel Medium from Blick (Matte). Again, you can use anything that will glue paper to the substrate. Once dried completely, you should not be able to peel it off. With this paper, you would moisten it to 'release' it from the glue leaving the image behind glued to your substrate. The gel medium seems to work best for me so that is my preferred glue.

Hey RIx - if you use the slices of wood like you're using here, do you need to prepare it? As in sanding, etc.

These I purchased online and at Hobby Lobby. They are pretty smooth already and so I don't sand them or treat them in any way. I will paint some of them for a white background, or leave them natural.

Is Liquitex 5323 matte gel medium white what you use?

You can use matte or gloss. I use matte. Liquitex or Blick or ?. You can use white glue. You can use Modge Podge. I prefer gel medium for the most reliable results.

No. This paper is for laser printing. If you use inkjet it will be a a more faded look.

Donna, did you note that the video talks about using the RixCanDoIt Quick Transfer Paper? This is not the paper they use for photos at Walmart. :-0 You can, however, PRINT your photo from your computer using a Laser Printer onto the Quick Transfer Paper and then do the transfer.

This isn't just regular printer paper. Look in the description area of the video. It's Quick Transfer Paper (8.5 x 11)
