Years ago, I complained to a friend that despite exercise and eating less, I was gaining weight. My friend, a trainer and CrossFit enthusiast, was dismissive, saying “calories in, calories out,” and that sort of thing. Fast forward ten years, and she’s crying, “what’s happening to me???” 😹 Welcome to menopause, sister. Luckily, I discovered keto and intermittent fasting, and it has helped tremendously.😎

I had some success with Keto and Intermittent Fbicycling, But, after reading "No Grain, No Pain" by Dr. Peter Osborne (he has YT videos also) & dropping GLUTEN products, which cause inflammation. Essentially I switched to Carnivore & things changed very quickly! I am feeling so much better all around! I have had Fibromyalgia for decades, with extreme pain, chronic fatigue with brain fog, among many other symptoms like excruciatingly painful, muscle & nerve spasms, to the point I am spontaneously vomiting... Since going Carnivore, my pain level has dropped so significantly that I am weaning off all my pain meds! My Energy level has improved dramatically, and I am able to socialize, go to events and play again! I am horseback riding, bicyclin, hiking and off roading in 4x4s! 😅Wow, life is great again! WooHoo! 🏃🏻♀️ 💃🏻 🏇 🏍🚙🚲🎉😂

I don't think anyone gets a lot of attention in their latter years If you look into men's health after 50 (they do go through changes as well) basically you get information on test levels. That's it. They are reduced to their test levels. Basically, health care is centered around keeping people healthy enough to reproduce, once your past that prime, you're obsolete But now that we are all living longer, we want to actually live and not spend our last 30 years in a doctors office, so we are starting to have these conversations

I was obese most of my adult life. I started Keto and Carnivore about 3 years before perimenopause. I lost 60 pounds, 4 surgeries, and menopause. I gained 40 back. I drifted into a 4 year dirty keto phase. In December of last year, I made the choice to stop drinking, start lifting weights again and by March was walking at least once a day, now sometimes twice. I've lost 40 pounds and put on the muscle I want. Lol, I have my dad's body shape, which is heavily muscled legs and arms. I want to lose 25 more and at least 5 to 10 pounds muscle. I love the direction I'm going. Heavily eat ketovore. I don't really eat enough, but the closer I get to my goal, the more I will fast to use autophagy to help get rid of loose skin. Protein and lifting weights are key! Do what works for you.

What I didn't know, that I know now, was that before pere menopause, my body was still producing the right amount of hormones and other biological factors that were working on my behalf. I thought it was all me. Lol. When I turned 49, my body said... I can show you better than I can tell you... watch this! 😆 And it hasn't been the same sense. I was a Product Development manager at Baylor College of Medicine when the Woman's Health Initiative was released in 2002. At that time we were working on a multi-million project that would host online continuing medical education (cme) and a plethora of courses for physicians called Menopausal Health Online. When the study was released that project was instantly quashed and never revived. Not sure why I'm posting this comment but it was a REAL thing. Thank you for digging deeper and to the physicians who research. As a post menopausal woman now...while I was going through it my hot flashes were debilitating and I went to at least three physicians before one of them actually heard me and I honestly had to scream and cry and finally got hormone replacement.

Thank you for your story. It’s criminal what that study did to women over the last 20+ years. My GP said for 6 years there is nothing you can do. Eventually he put me on an anti depressant but I went off it because I knew it was no depression. I finally found a woman GP who reluctantly prescribed me HRT but I have to have a 3D mammogram and ultrasound every year to get that HRT script. Unfortunately the recent ultrasound found 2 suspicious lumps and I have refused biopsies and MRIs and have adopted a wait and see approach until another ultrasound in October. Meanwhile I am off my HRT because the powers that be say if there is cancer they could feed off the estrogen or progesterone. Would you mind sharing what HRT you have been on? I’ve been on a E50/P140 continuous patch.

It’s also helpful to clarify the words, “ lifting heavy”. Lifting heavy means what is heavy for you. The amount of weight that fatigues/challenges you. I’ve been lifting weights for about 16yrs. I wonder if that has attributed to my very mild menopause symptoms? What I am going to do is become intentional with my fiber intake. I learned about the importance of hitting protein years ago, but fiber wasn’t given the same importance. I’ll be teaching the younger women in my circle.

Thank you!!! I was 50 and suffering with weight gain, mental changes, tearful episodes and lacked mojo. When I asked my OB she said my mojo would never come back, accept it. She laughed and told me to read 50 shades of gray. I mentioned something a functional med Dr said and she made fun of it, “functional shmunctional…” I finally heard about BHRT. My T was 0.1 (literally almost zero). As you said, it’s been a process that has taken a few years, but I have finally balanced my hormones and I lost 40 lbs. (close to goal) with changes in diet. My Dr had no idea how to help me. I am so glad I left her practice. Part of me wants to write her a note to let her know help IS possible but I am not sure how she would take it. I feel so much more like myself. I didn’t want to do hormones initially, because there are risks to everything, but I am glad I tried it. 54 now and also trying to build muscle and eat well. Thanks ladies!!!

No help just more ?s& issues. 45 for 6 mo was rock bottom before I finally met a provider who helped. My mom died when I was 33 of everything cancer. I have never had a grandmother or aunt. There was no guidance. I knew hot flashes night sweats periods stop. End of story. I lost myself. My motivation my desire had brain fog sleep issues gi issues etc etc. I wish to save all younger than me from such issues & lack of understanding. THANK YOU for your work yo teach & provide help

I was almost going crazy when my body started changing from 150 to 170ibs. I cried and got depressed because my body started looking like someone else's. My primary doctor has no idea what to do with me It was a doctor in a med spa that told me that I'm going through premonopausal changes. It dawned on me. Now, am learning a lot from these online doctors. This is not fair for women 😕 😒

I had a baby 4 years ago and I nursed her the entire time. We weaned the same month I turned 40. Nursing apparently mimics menopause and I experienced every symptom of menopause. It was the worst darkest time of my life. Saddens me to say this because I should’ve been elated having a baby, but, something broke my brain. I told my husband I feel like I’ve been abducted, I can’t recognize myself anymore, this is not me. (I cry every time I think about what I’ve been through.) We finally weaned and I’m feeling so much better. Things have returned back to normal, and without even trying I’m losing all the weight that was stuck on me the last 4 years. Even my liver enzymes are back to normal after having been elevated during my time of nursing my little one. So I am here to educate myself THOROUGHLY on this subject because I am refusing to suffer like that again. I will throw everything I can on menopause once it rears its ugly head. Generations of women before us suffered so much and it angers me knowing how limited data was and still is on menopause. Help and support and compassion just wasn’t there. We take care of everyone our whole lives, and we’re discarded once we can no longer “serve” as well as we used to. Go figure. Thank you to these women who are educating us and helping us through these times. You are literally saving lives. Just understanding what is happening to our brain and body alleviates so much anxiety and stress. Not knowing and understanding just adds to the crap cocktail Mother Nature served us. Also, ladies please share this content with all women AND MEN in your lives. Our men play an important role in our lives when it comes to wellness. They need to understand what is happening before they can help and be better understanding.

Thank you so much for the so important information for us neglected women. I am 51, still in perimenopause, I went trough hell 2 years ago. I had the worst symptoms like frozen shoulder, severe joint pain, migraines, brain fog, bladder problems, signs of depression, no energy whatsoever (although I was used to heavy gym workouts for the last 15 years....) I didn't understand what was happening. My gynecologist wasn't helpful or empathic so I spent my whole spare time researching to help myself. I went on HRT including testosterone (private off-license since ther is no license for women in germany for it) and I changed my diet one more completely. No white flour, no sugar, no alcohol, no heavily processed foods. 100g of protein per day minimum. I started to take T3 in addition to T4 for my thyroid and it all got better, but it took a long time. I lift heavier than ever (and reduced stressful workouts) and lost 10% bodyfat in the last 6 months, it is possible but it needs a lot of knowledge, discipline and humbleness. Don't give up, ladies!!!!

Love this!! My only reservation is going to my GYN and asking for all those labs and what I need to do to see whats going on....insurance covering it. I dont have the extra money to pay because groceries are SO expensive and just everything is. I am all for trying HRT as I turned 46 a few months ago. I know I need to do this but money. Man is there anyone else that is struggling as much as I am? These vidoes make me feel like I am NOT alone and all my questions and wondering is not worthless. There is so much out there that 'claims' to be able to help you lose weight or help with side effects from life. Whats safe? I refuse to be a guinea pig but man things are SO expensive.

I'm 49, had 5 pregnancies and 4 births, and I'm likely peri-menopausal, but I still get my cycle monthly with barely any PMS. I have been weight training for 12 years now and it's really paying me back. Another winning piece is that I own a traditional-heat sauna and use it daily. I've been in that practice for the past 3-4 years. I wish more folks would realize the hormone benefits of using a sauna on routine. The deep sweat does a ton for the body hormonally speaking. I'm eager to see how menopause hits me given these proactive tools in my toolbox. I wanted to share!

I love this! My experience has been that doctors do not seem to know the most or even recommend stuff regarding diet and exercise and supplements. When I ask about how can I use diet and exercise and supplements as a preventative thing to keep me healthy, often I am looked at right away as if I’m some kind of radical person and an anti-medicine person because I don’t wanna just take a pill for everything. It is very disheartening. I have talked to plenty of people who are usually just met with judgment and shame when they ask questions to try to better understand things, it’s like the doctor takes it as an attack and acts as though you shouldn’t question them cuz they are the “expert”. I wish there were more doctors with this approach.

@@chalenejohnson another thing that I’ve noticed that is lacking is how pregnancy can change our bodies, especially in regards to how that intersects with exercise. Before I had children my gait was one where I over-pronated. Then I had four children, and when I went back to try to do walking and running, I was having some foot issues and I realized that my gait had totally changed to one where I supinate now. I couldn’t find any research or decent information on this topic. Anything with changing gait was attributed to some kind of disease like arthritis or osteoporosis. If you come across anything on how post pregnancy changes in your body can affect exercise and ways to heal or correct those changes, please share, I would love to hear about it!!! Thanks!!

Hey everyone I just wanted to add my journey of BHRT. I was prescribed the Estrodial patch, oral progesterone, and DHEA. Over the course of years I gained 25lbs, became incontinent, emotional and tired all the time. I watched my breast size increase and I wasn’t even at 1mg of estradiol, I was at .05. I gained as much weight as when I was 7mos pregnant. It was ridiculous and the exact opposite of what was being advertised that hormone therapy was suppose to do. I decided to start weaning myself off of BHRT. I LOST all the weight I gained, I was no longer emotional or Incontinent, I felt 100% better. But heres the kicker as a parting gift I was diagnosed with hormonal fueled breast cancer. No one in my family ever had breast cancer. I learned the longer we are exposed to estrogen the more we increase our risks of BC. Also learned that 75% of all BC is fueled by estrogen and progesterone and occurs in women without any family history. Only a small portion percent is caused by genetics. BE CAREFUL ❤

Strength training 3-4 times a week with HEAVY weights. Cardio/hit about 3 times a week. I walk with a weighted vest on incline once or twice a week and in general walk a lot daily. I eat whatever I want but focus on protein and vegetables. I do not do low cal or low fat at all. The exercise and fasting sounds like a lot of work but once it all becomes habit it’s easy.
