In this video I show off 1 Million Dollars in gold coins and 1 million dollars in Goldbacks and I talk about the differences between them. The gold coins in the video are American Gold Eagles and at the time of filming they were worth approx. $1 Million. The massive pile of Goldbacks show in the video also had an approx. value of $1 Million at the time of filming. Goldbacks are supposed to be used for barter and they are made out of pure gold. Gold coins are great for anyone wanting to invest in gold or anyone wanting to stack physical gold. Goldbacks are great for anyone who wants to use physical gold as a currency or for anyone who is prepping for SHTF. I personally own Gold Coins and Goldbacks in my stack and I am happy that I purchased them. Below is my video explainging what Goldbacks are in more detail:

Basically businesses is those states choose to except Goldbacks for services. They either get added to a site registry or display it at the store that they except Goldbacks but regardless of what state is on the Goldback it’s still Gold and will always be Gold. So as long as someone will except them for barter you could use them all over the US

Goldbacks are a great way to spend at least $5 for every $1.80 worth of gold, or over 100% in premium. Which makes them a massive waste of money. Gold is not useful for bartering. it's too expensive. Silver would make sense and is also a better value.

You can spend a one ounce gold coin exactly once. Getting a 1/1,000th ounce of gold at a 100% premium is about a third of any comparable gold product. That value isn't lost in any way though, you keep it in the utility. Silver is a great purchase too but Silver Eagles are also going to be too valuable for barter and I don't think serious people really think that we're going back to discontinued junk silver dimes in the future. I wouldn't discount the new technologies coming out that make gold better.

I like goldbacks. I think what people forget is the laws that apply to the element it's self. Once you wrap your mind around that you understand goldbacks importance. There is a reason I buy silver and gold. It's not just because of fractional purposes. It's for legal reasons. Gold and silver are two different elements with two different purposes and two different scarcities.

A Goldback is good for buying eggs or paying for a minor service like a haircut or electric bill. A gold coin can pay a months rent. You use hundred dollar bills for rent and 1/5/10s for the rest. Goldbacks are indeed bulky, but you could ostensibly have both. Another way to look is a roll of silver dimes over a couple 10 denom Goldbacks. I am not advocating one over the other, but they aren't terrible either and it is in the end getting public faith and interest. One more thing: getting robbed of some Goldbacks is less painful than a gold eagle in your pocket, and you expose others away from more debt money!

Goldbacks are not for stacking. If you stack gold or silver you want the lowest premium. But if you ever have to barter your gold coins or gold bars, no one will give you anywhere the value you want for small transactions. Just not going to happen. That is where Goldbacks come in...as barter insurance for small transactions. If Goldbacks could get some national recognition like the Sunday morning show or MSM nightly news, that would help educating people on them. Think about this. You got a neighbor that produces eggs or has some milk cows. The chicken lay eggs continually day in and day out. A cow produces 4 - 6 gallons a day of milk. The neighbor that has the milk cow producing all the time will have to do something with the milk. If they don't sell it, it will spoil, unless they can make cheese from it. (Cheese was invented as a way to preserve milk.) Goldbacks can be used as barter with the neighbor for the food. Neighbor may have to be educated about them, same way as 90% silver. But they have to do something with the output if they can't consume all the eggs and milk. So it is let the milk spoil or take some Goldbacks or 90%. But the neighbor may not want 90% or Goldbacks and want your ChapStick. But, someone else may not want the ChapStick and want Goldbacks. Prepping is all a crapshoot and you just give it your best shot. But one thing is for sure...you won't be able to spend your gold coins, bars and silver bars for small transactions and get anywhere near the full value of them. Here...this is how it will go down. Want my ChapStick? OK, give me a 1 Goldback. All I have is a 5 Goldback. OK, here are 4 Goldbacks in change. All I have is a 10 oz silver bar. Sorry, no change, Bub. All I have is a piece of gold combibar. Sorry Bub, too many fake pieces of gold bars floating around...don't want it. And even if real...no change, Bub.

@@WW_SHTFF_WW You say "if goldbacks could get some national recognition..." Problem is, they do not have any real recognition, and until they do, they shall remain nothing more than a novelty item which can only be sold to coin shops and those who like to stack. Frankly, I doubt average man / woman on the street will ever learn about them. For this reason, I am sticking with Gold and Silver coins.

The Goldbacks look really, really cool but with Gold at around $2000/oz these days, a 1/1000 oz Golback has about $2 worth of gold so the premium is just way out there. They would have to maintain a value on their own to remain reliably worth around $4 for the 1 denomination.

Gold is $1862/1000=$1.86. 1 ounce= 1000 goldbacks at a cost of $3.56 per gives a total cost of $3,560.00. The smallest gold I could find were 1/4g rounds that cost $37. 120=.9645 ounce total cost $4400. The goldbacks are cheaper. Plus the exchange rate on goldbacks is $3,560. The melt value on 1/4g is $1796. Thats a huge loss.

@LINDA DEMICHILLIE but why would anyone buy 1/4 the Premium is insane you can buy 1 gram for $70. I guess my point would be to buy the 1 oz and melt it down in to fractions yourself. Maybe not every one can afford to do that but gold backs are way more of a hit to the wallet. I only go for 10 gram bars personally. If things get so bad that I'm using gold and silver to buy things, I'd most likely want to buy in bulk, Or clip the bar in 4 ways to buy supply. This is just my opinion I know everyone does things differently but I also look for the deals I got lucky and got my gold at spot price.

I just think you are wasting your time with goldbacks unless you live in a US state where they accept goldbacks as payment. I see them as novelty collector items. Not all LCSs accept them and it's optional for businesses to accept or not accpt them.

I'll take the coins over the Goldbacks any day. The Goldbacks are a cute little idea, but it's a novelty and collector piece rather than a logical way to stack gold. You're getting clobbered on the premium's that you're never going to be able to recoup unless gold goes 300x

A one has an exchange value of $3.92. When you buy a gold or silver coin you have to wait for spot to raise above the premium price to break even. That being said goldbacks are away to diversify without the tax repercussions of a 28% collectible tax rate on gains.
@JimmyLicari
@JimmyLicari Жыл бұрын
@@michaelsimmons9052 I understand where you're coming from and I get it. But the melt value for them is under $3. Also I have seen that since created in 2019, Goldbacks have appreciated in value over the years. But in the end, I do have a few because of what you said, it's a great way to diversify.
@JimmyLicari
@JimmyLicari Жыл бұрын
@@lindademichillie8618 agreed, but they aren't worth stacking... the numbers absolutely don't add up. If you were to have an oz of gold in Goldbacks and a 1 oz gold coin, it's not even a debate. You'll never be able to recover those premiums on Goldbacks unless gold goes to over $3,000. I don't know about you or anyone else, but I don't want to have to pay more for my Metals. There's been many video's on this subject too. And it doesn't add up. At least with buying a 1 oz gold you're getting it way closer to spot

I think "Goldbacks" are a terrible idea. I think the best, easiest way to return to a gold/silver standard and use it every day is to have debit cards backed by gold. It's simple, easy to implement, and people are used to using plastic/cards. I'm not going to spend a penny on goldbacks.

As I understand they retain the premium on use. So there is less gold than the price but the goldback itself is worth more. I guess like a half ish gold standard kinda.
