This week the challenge is to build our canopy using only one sheet of plywood.
Well, we know the#rocklerplywoodchallenge is over but we decided to give it a try just for fun. So we designed our tiny shipping container house canopy using one sheet of plywood and tried to have as little left over as possible. Are you curious? Check put the video!!
If you enjoy the content we are producing and want to support us feel free to check out our Patreon page:

We have good news!! From now on we are going to have 2 episodes a week! We decided to divide our Monday’s episode into 2 episodes a week. Monday’s episode is gonna be our regular video showing the process of our building and on Thursday is gonna be a more detailed video and we are gonna talk about the building process and much more.
We want to thank Matt Weber for the notebook Leather cover we made for us! We loved it!!
This is the 38th episode towards our goal of building by ourselves a Tiny Shipping Container House and producing a KZbin Series about it called Living Tiny Project.
Thanks for watching!

@ 14:00 I don't know who is saying your videos are too long or that you talk too much. You are providing sufficient information in the video that correlates with the 'episode' you uploaded. And, considering this is a video, you can fast forward or skip ahead without having to hear the things you don't want to. For instance, I could have just skipped all the talking and went straight to the box opening, all with the magic of the youTube buttons. Some people!!

relax guys, you are doing a great documentary on how to build stuff and how to make decisions based on the surrounding situations and limited resources sometimes. Some viewers from North American Countries lack a bit of patience and they want entertainment. The decisions of splitting to get the best of both worlds is great. keep up the good work. We start our container build next spring. we got a ton of info from you.

Okay. Here is why I like watching you guy's build your home, all be it a tiny one.... It is your enjoyment working together as man and wife that shines through and attracts viewers. At least that's what I think. I'm sure this adventure you have set upon isn't easy and there is loads to do, literally. Be it any kind of video or even demonstration. I think the viewing audience can see for themselves what is going on. Duca, I know you like to explain what you are doing and I think in doing so you are trying too hard. Seriously the more you show and the less you explain will be better in my view. But, alas that's just me. However I'm with you 110% and will carry on watching what you post. I guess what I'm trying to say is, do what you feel is necessary but please in doing so don't let that light of passion and enthusiasm dim along the way. Don't create any more work for yourselves.

Thanks a lot for your kind word my friend. Actually one of the reasons why we decided two split the episode is to make easier for us. And in this way we can try to keep doing on the way we like with all the small explanations but it will be easier for people to choose to watch both episodes or just Monday’s. Well of course that’s the theory so let’s try for a few weeks and we will know how it goes. 👌🏼😊

I think the videos are ok as they are. They arent too long or over explained. I also hate those videos that don't say much or nothing at all. I find them a waste of my time. I like your videos because of how much you guys explain the things you are doing. Don't you guys have enough to do without adding to the video editing time? :-) I'm sure no one minds 2 videos a week. Have a super productive week you two. See you Thursday.

Olá! Bom dia. (it's morning in South Africa) I think 2 videos a week is a brilliant idea! I like how you explained it in this episode. Once a week was just not enough for me. Whenever I have watched an episode of Odd Life Crafting, I feel sad when it's finished. For me, 25 - 30 minute episodes would be ideal. I have never thought that any of you talk too much. One of the reasons why I love the series so much is because of how the two of you explain what it is you want to do in the beginning of each episode. I think it's brilliant that you show the mistakes and that you discuss it with the audience. The format of the show is great. I like that you do not go for dramatic effect or try to create drama, like too many american shows with similar topics. It's great how you edit in the correct words or terms, and how you use hand drawn illustrations from time to time. And! Massive respect for the fact that English is not your native (home) language, and yet you present the show in English. A part of the show's appeal is the charming way in which you pronounce new words. SenatorPerry suggested a "Word of the Week", and I second that. Your show is awesome, and I bless you and the show, and wish for it to get bigger and bigger! *tips hat*

Do not think you talk too much! I hope the second part on Thursday will not feel disconnected from the “build” video. Thank you both for this great series!

Why u aint use waterproof wood glue? Just askin. Its way cheaper & easier to work with. Just because u already had this epoxy stuff? I guess ull need a lot of woodglue in the future. Even more if u want to re- or upcycle your furniture. Greetings from Germany.

The format you use is perfect. Longer videos are fine. Short attention span people are uninteresting people anyway. One way is to divide the video in 'build'/'explain'. The short attention span can just stop after the build is over. Always be aware that a minority is often also the loudest giving you the wrong impressions.

As an editor for several KZbin channels, one video a week is the way to stay, as to the subject of talking to much, this not an issue, I love the marriage of your detailed explanations, and discussion of failures and success, the video content is of great quality and the editing is 5 star, so in closing I would leave the channel as is, a good rule is around 20 minutes, but there are no set rules

Something you could do on the next fiberglass project is use regular wood glue for the wood gluing steps to save cost and time. Fiberglass strength comes from the glass, curves and arches as well as glass on both sides. The squeegee is the best tool along with the brush to put glass on the wood or other glass. Resin has strength but the glass should be saturated just enough don't make it too wet because it can tend to float the glass thus weakening the layup

I am so jealous that you have a lady that is interested in helping you with the project. I don't know if you go back and read late entered comments, but on your subject of the quality and quantity of your videos, I'm all for quality! I like to watch for the knowledge gained and the entertainment which your personalities provide us. I'm sorry I'm a year behind on the Tiny House build but I'm new to your projects. So there is nothing I can help you with in advice on this one until you get back to it later. It makes NO difference to me how many you do or how long they are. The more time spent producing the videos means the less time you have to spend in construction which is more important in completing your builds. Planning and preparation is the most important thing to spend any extra time on in my opinion. That is what cuts down on costly mistakes in time and money. My benefit is from learning from and enjoying whatever it is you post.

Will the canopy have a slope?...If so the blocks you cut with angles, that meet the wall. They would also need to match that slope, or you will have a gap.

You are actually right and we just realized that. 🙈 but a really small gap as we don’t really need a huge gap. We will see, if the rain ends up in the gap (it’s right underneath the wooden deck) we will fill with sikaflex (PU) if not we will live as it is. 👌🏼😊

hi guys, maybe its a bit too late now, but would t be better to do the cladding on the outside first, so you have a straight wall to work with and attach your awning to it then? or any reason you wanted to do it this way? thanks
@OddLifeCrafting

Sorry but we didn’t understand what you mean. What do you mean by cladding on the outside? Thanks
@lembritos

cladding is like putting straight walls on your container on the outside (revestir de madeira, de placa, etc)

Such a cool episode and I love the fact that there’s gonna be a second episode each week :-)) About the canope - are you guys gonna angle it slightly so the water can run off? From the video it looked like the structure going on the wall is perpendicular to the canope top which would make it flat and not let the water run off. :-) Anyway - great job! Looking forward to the thursday talk episode :-)

Thanks a lot. Actually when we put it on place we’re gonna create an angle and we’ll have a hole on the corner so the water can drip. 😉

Hello Roberta I watch at the same time your videos of the house and those of the boat. I do not think the videos are too long and the information is necessary but I agree with you, Duca speaks too much. If I want to listen, I turn on the radio and if I want to see, I turn on the computer or the television. Your videos have the right format but do not talk for more than half the time. We need pictures. In French, in saying "a good drawing is better than a long speech"! and so a good video is better than a long talk. friendships

Hi Alain, we do agree with you and that’s way we decided to try a new dynamics for the episodes. I don’t know if you watched all the way to the end but just in case you didn’t we will start to do two videos a week so in this way the Monday’s episode can be shorter and more building oriented. The Thursday videos will be more of a talking videos. So we suggest you skip the video we will post on Thursday and we promise less talking next Monday!! Hope to see you back next Monday!! 😊😊

Yes, of course, I will continue to follow your video, even if sometimes I'm passing when you talk too much. Anyway, it's my project too to make a container house and I like your idea even if I will make a few things differently. Thanks again to share your experience with us.

I think you two are both really nice people. It's not that you talk to much mister, it's the point where you repeat the same information over and over again. Each time, you use more words like your teaching children who didn't understand what you said the first time. Just watch this video and listen to yourself repeat all most everything three times. I enjoy watching you guys learn and look forward as the video quality increases.

Thanks so much for the feedback back Jessie. Not trying to find an excuse but sometimes even if unconsciously as English is not our mother language we feel like people are not understanding what we mean so without “noticing” we (or me Duca in this case) repeat the same thing. It’s weird but i guess is a learning process!!
