Beautiful people you are :D well said....We need more kindness in the world right now. Without my bike I would be in a lot of hurt.

Good stuff! I love all of the bikes and kit and gear and associative crap that goes along with the sport. That being said you guys nailed it. I love seeing things on mindset as that transcends the sport we love into daily life and can make us all, me especially, a hell of a lot easier to be around.

Funny how the mind works. You can take so many positive things away from any thing you do in life, but never focus on the negative. Always great content and a great reminder to keep your head up and busy your ass no matter what others say

Wise words from both of you. I'm 70 now, so getting dropped is a given. But I tell myself "hey at least I'm out there". I also remind myself that if I could magically de-age 40 years, I could mop the road with these guys. Maybe yes, maybe no, but it makes me feel better ;-).

honestly, it’s one (of many) attributes of cycling, but also any broadly analogous endeavour that I value, is rides on one’s own. I think the top priority for me is enjoyment, on various levels. It’s well acknowledged that cycling does have some (self image) problems that can and often do stray into straight unhealthy. Take her easy. And as the bard said, ride more than thou goest 😎

This video could not have come at a better time. I had my first group ride with a bike club today. It was an early ride (6:30am). I was so excited that I barely slept 4 hours. Everyone has decked out Cannondales, Cinnapolis, Cervelos, you name it. They also had all their gear decked out, whereas I came with my commuter kit and my steel all rounder from a LBS with shitty components, like SRAM Apex, alloy wheels, flat pedals, 40mm wheels, etc. I got dropped literally 5 mins into the ride and the times when I graciously thought they had a scheduled stop, someone in the group had a mechanical issue. It got to the point where I had both ride leaders (also both founders of the club) tell me at separate times I was too slow and that I most likely wouldn't finish with them as I was slowing them down and that I could leave whenever I wanted. I eventually dropped out and just went home barely a quarter of the ride done, feeling super disappointed and depressed. Thanks to your video, I'm going to try a different mindset. I've never biked that hard and that fast, I'm recovering from a back injury due to being hit by a car while biking two months ago, and I'm still pretty new to everything. Thanks Jon!

Yo JC, thats pretty shitty of them to say that. Sorry you had to deal with that. Dont let it discourage you. Keep riding, consistency is 🔑. All bike clubs should be inclusive. Its one thing if you're not at that level, but they shouldn't be negative. Youll get there!

Love your videos! Yeah, it’s nice to have confidence, but it has to be warranted and backed by results, otherwise it’s a false sense of achievement. Determination is a key here I think as well. This is one of the things I love about David Goggins is that he doesn’t mince words with results though too. If your fat and overweight, you just have to say to yourself, “ No, I’m friggin’ fat” , and keep grinding. It’s important to be honest with yourself as well. We can’t pat ourselves on the back until the results are achieved either. Just stay determined and dare I say, blindly follow a plan, any plan, to achieve the results you want!

Jon, brilliant video. Such good advice!! Its something i personally really struggle with. I always struggle to be more positive... i am just like what you said.... what if i don't... produce the power numbers i want, not finish 1st etc etc... i am so bad that way. My expectations are high and i approach with the result attitude... i SO need to stop that but its actually really hard to do 🙈👍
