😮 So there is a new ramp line coming for the Salem line too? Nice .. After looking at how many different lines, be it from the IR, K-RIDE or the Bangalore Metro are gonna be forming a complex bypass through this junction, i can only imagine how sophisticated and complex it is going to be in the future.. 🤩

Excellent video Natarajan! Loved the technical explanation as always. One suggestion, when talking about chronological events, it may be helpful to put them on a timeline to visually see the updates as the years roll by. This is for the history section early in the video. If all the projects get completed as planned here, this will be a trainspotters' paradise, so many things to see in such a small radius! Cautiously optimistic for the future.

Instead of setting up SMVB in a remote area, they could've simply developed BYPL and renamed to Baiyappanahalli Jn.

@@raghavtejas4611 Now they are building platforms and new tracks as explained in this video. So it will be 6 tracks and 4 platforms. Existing SMVB yard can be used as Baiyappanahalli yard and maintenances of rakes can be done from there. It is not how wr think, railway has a lot of land which is not used and even if they don't have, they can acquire. BYPL has metro connevtivity plus main road and bus stop connectivity which SMVB doesn't have.

@@muraliveloor3908 There are only 2 new platforms being constructed at BYPL. So only 4 platforms exists in that case. That's too less for a terminal station. Also there's no further land available to be acquired by railways.

Nice explanation! BTW All of these should've been done 20 years ago, when there wasn't much built up areas around. Now looking up at the sprawl, I can say I will easily take another 5 years to be completed (IR + KRIDE + Namma Metro)

I was working in NGEF and was part of team working on Calcutta metro and IR DEMU projects for their Traction Motors. Indeed we could see a lot of developments happening around Byappanahalli rly. Station. From a sleepy Malgudi station to a bustling Intersection. Good reporting…keep up your good work👍

Bangalore City Junction to Hosur should have 4 tracks by now. 2 tracks for suburban, MEMU and the other 2 tracks for inter city super fast express trains.

Pls add a small animation when you are showing the line drawings and speaking about a certain track/route. This helps us keep up instead of searching which line you are speaking about.

Adding more lines to the metro does not address the main problem that Bangalore Metro faces, which is the lack of sufficient junctions. The Majestic junction is worse than even Sivaji Nagar bus stand during rush hour. There needs to be a major rethink in how the trains and in the future, the metro should be designed with major and minor junctions in mind to distribute the crowds more evenly.

Before constructing the platform over where the buffer stop is right now, they need to get rid of all the plastic, in particular. Pouring the concrete on the plastic is going to damage the environment much more than any other scenario.

Unfortunately no. One will have to walk from Benniganahalli metro station to Benniganahalli suburban station. A walk way might be provided in future. We need to wait and see

Thanks for the info, the walk b/w metro to sub urban Benniganahalli then should be close to 1km unfortunately. Hopefully, atleast the long running trains from SMVT or yeshwanthpur will have a halt at suburban rail, so that people can atleast have a railway interchange if not for a metro. It is next to impossible as per your sketch to connect salem line to csdr ynk, then that entire stretch of kasturi nagar as to be acquired, which by no means is possible as it is already fully developed and established BDA layout. Also i doubt if the suburban line connecting yelahanka to beniganahalli station is going to be executed bcoz where is the space to build ramps and bridges?

That is why I said getting land will be difficult at the end. I am not making any random sketch. I am just sharing the info available on DPR and tenders Suburban line alignment has been finalized and the works have already began for Mallige and Kanaka lines

Using standard gauge tracks would save ton of land and money in the long run. If I was in charge I would sanction building dual gauge tracks and slowly transition Indian railways to use standard gauge only. This encroachment is getting ridiculous by the day.

Dual gauge itself is costly. Transition will take atleast 40 years along with added maintenance due to dual gauge.Along with that it will hamper any speed increase project due to restrictions in dual gauge.

@@navan1087 It doesn't matter, in the long run it will save land including forest land and residential areas. In cities like Bangalore its getting difficult to get even a 30x40 site without paying a premium and here we have the central government happily mowing down buildings with rigged court orders.

broad gauge has its advantages. dual stack goods trains on flatbed wagons wud not have been possible on standard gauge for eg. also the difference in gauge width is only ard 24cm . it certainly wud not save "tons" of land.

@@mvh996 but this is a passanger line.KRIDE should design the loading gauge of this track in par with the mumbai sub urban.Mumbai sub urban is the only track which actually utilize the loading gauge capability of broad gauge.

Southern Railway = Congress neverever did development of Southern Railways as expected. Lowest priority of development which is igignored since decades. Congress ignored Suburban Railways and Circular Railways connection to major cities like Bengaluru Hyderabad and Hubli dharwad and other cities. Even development of Railways in many cosmopolitan cities Mysuru n Coimbatore n Mangalore n Kochi n Anantpur n Kadappa n Guntur n Trivandrum, Salem, Madurai n and others were ignored. Current Central govt needs to work more on Development of entire KSR Railway station and Cantonment railway stations. It is totally messy and jams . Since 60 years , Development is very slow 🐌. Bengaluru being fattest rowing city in Asia, still all the stations in BBengaluru is slow. Previous Congress govt was dead slow in Governance and didn't do any kind of development.

A short link from SMVT to bengaluru east can be established. Another short link from kodigehall or yelahanka to Hebbal may also be,established. Byapoanahalli to yelahanka link may be dismantled
