I HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. They told me I would have braces for 1yr MAX ..... I ended up having braces for 4 years and I had to get ALL 4 wisdom teeth removed & have the lower jaw set back surgery to correct my underbite because the braces couldn't do it. My mouth was wired shut for an entire month & I had to liquefy all of my food & suck it through a straw . My face was swollen for 1 months too. It was well worth it though . I lost 15lbs , its easier to chew , & my facial structure is more feminine now . I got the braces off soon after .

KiannaOshun I’m suppose to be getting jaw surgery in a year I’m 7 months in and it’s such a struggle my bite has gotten so much worst and I know that it’s suppose to happen but it’s such a blow to my self esteem I think I might have to wait longer than a year to my orthodontist said we were in the beginning stage two months ago ugh this really makes me feel better knowing it will all hopefully be worth it ):

Your teeth looks amazing and that lip gloss if popping!!! When I wore my elastics, my jaw would also feel like they are wired shut sometimes. Sometimes it was hard for me to open my mouth and put food in. I've had my braces off for a few years now, but I still have jaw issues when I go to the dentist and have to keep my mouth open for an extended period of time. Braces are an amazing thing.

My son just turned 11 and he has been through the same thing as you. He had expander first on top and then the bottom on. He is almost done with 1st phase but we will give him a break for a few months to a year because he is just not mature enough for braces. He isn’t brushing good enough. We try to help but when at school he doesn’t do it so it’s causing issues with food building up and ultimately decay happening. Good luck on your journey. It is not as common to find underbite. The dentist says it’s sometimes hereditary. Not sure who in our family had this issue. Take care!

I’ve been having a cross bite for my whole life and lately I can live with it but the older I get the more I seem the get insecure about it and I’ve been thinking about surgery for the longest but now I have all this information and a video that shows the process& it makes me feel so happy . Looking good. Let me just say this....When you get them off and you get your retainer, you have to wear it for the REST of your life. They don't tell you that. I wore mine for 10 years then I just stopped. Now 13 years after I stopped wearing my retainer my teeth have shifted and I HATE IT. Not trying to scare you but want to tell you what I wasn't told.

I think my open bite might have been worst than yours. Currently just passed my 6 month appointment and my open bite was closed at the 4th month, so anyone being told they need jaw surgery, you really may not have to do it. Try the braces first before you take that major step.❤

My son just got elastics today. I had braces twice and never had to deal with that! He’s in theater and choir at school and currently auditioning for a musical... he’s going to have some challenges, but next month they come off-he’s had them since November 2016(yay!)

I didn't realize how difficult ur braces were🙁, a whole jawline reconstruction?🤭girl. I'm glad you don't have to go thru that, it sounds scary and painful. I had surgery👩🏾‍⚕️on my top and bottom gums b/c my canine’s literally shifted directly behind the top row of my 2 front teeth & 1 behind my bottom row of teeth. I'm so happy that your Jaw surgery is canceled. I get those cuts every now and then but it's when I dont put the Carmex on my lips. I can see your improvements. My daughter cant have braces or the jaw surgery. She has to many med isssues
