I need a series complete dedicated to how to learn Falling confidently and without injury, i flinch when i pop and my instinct to always stay upright and in control has haulted my progress.

Don't forget to just practice rolling on the floor or bed, so that it becomes muscle memory. Then in theory any time you fall in any situation you should roll/fall better. Although a good video about how to 'fall' definitely helps. Also I don't think it necessarily has to be a skateboard video although those do exist. I remember watching Nigel (from NkaVids) have a tutorial how to fall correctly on the braille channel.

I nearly gave up skating today because I couldn’t bring myself to drop in. I don’t know why, but just seeing other begginers like max and sofia fail but keep on going helped me reconsider. This is one of the many reasons i watch these videos. I get to see other people’s progress how they go through the same struggles

honestly man dropping in is all in your head like max says. if you get your board on the ramp and dont instantly hit it down you wont do it. just get up there and place both feet on the board. even if you dont drop in when you get on the coping and have both feet on the board it makes you feel more confident with dropping in. Im also a bit new still but dropping in was one of the first things i learned because its one of the only skating moves that dont require any skill other than being abe to ride the board. when you are up on the ramp clear your mind and lean forwards. i promise you falling forward off the ramp doesnt hurt, falling backwards however is so so so much worse. for me dropping in is like swallowing a pill beacuse i hate swallowing pills, just throw it in the back of your mouth and gulp. same concept here, just put your board up and push down whilst leaning in. get someone to hold your hands when you first do it as it will give you the confidence to do it. also try and work your way up from smaller ramps to bigger and bigger. sorry if this was very scrambled i cant type too coherently when im tired bc of my rampant adhd lmao

Dropping in is the make or break of skaters. I am working on it too. But it's definitely a lot more encouraging if you got a friend to cheer you on and makes it feel less awkward.

I don't know why people always jump to technical. Skipping things like balance, pushing, and safe bailing is like learning to play basketball by starting with layups and dunks and skipping the fundamentals like running while dribbling the ball. And yes, I have spent whole park sessions just pushing and bailing. If you're just starting, do yourself a favor and spend at least week on basics. Do not start with ollies or grinds until you can start, stop, and coast comfortably over a variety of surfaces for a minute or two at a time.

Yeah it's wild how many people think learning to ollie comes before just properly riding/turning/pushing lol

A big mistake that I see with skateboard is that people want to jump to tricks immediately. I met a kid that had 4 months of skate but could barely ride. In one push I could cover the distance that he did in 3. He basically just watched pros like Nijay Huston and tried to do cool shit fast. I get it, but learning how to ollie stationary is useless. When I started I was only interested in cruising and tried to learn the ollie to not interrupt my riding. That was a blessing in disguise because that was more important. Braille helped because I took the learn how to ride to heart. Honestly the first month should be about that and learning how to park, kick turn in ramps, drop in, nose stall, rock to fakie, going down slopes, bumptrakcs. Those are actually achievable in a month. The girl actually learned how to ride but she's still missing things, like you know, learning how to even put the board down. It's really the little things.

@@B3llyk0 Not saying the contrary but this is a video about learning how to skate. Unfortunately a lot of people stifle their growth by going straight to tricks to hard and not taking safety precautions. Ironically, if he learned the basics he could get to tricks faster.

This video is great just because it shows how much you can progress with consistency. So I’m about to turn 40 and I was a decent rollerblader back in the day. I miss that fun progression at the start of it all at the skate park and I never learned any technical stuff on a board so I’ve just picked one up. Just getting used to skating again and learning to Ollie now. Always wanted to skate bowls too. Also in Melbourne.

5:30 In my experience while learning the drop in, it was way harder on a bank because the moment you loos the weight on the tail, when you lean forward, the board starts to move. That does not happen if it is lockd in the coping. On a pank I needed to realy smash down the nose and slowly get rid of that smack down move to get a feeling for the pressure I needed on the nose. On the quater it is more natural IMO

When I was a kid we had about a dozen of us skating daily together in the neighborhood This one kid had joined us later on, but he was a prodigy & became better than all of us in like a month flat, he learned all the hard tricks & could do everything higher & cleaner than everyone kinda outta nowhere But on the flip side, one kid never could do anything but Ollie like 1 inch, even after years he made literally no progress somehow, in retrospect it was kinda sad, I think he just wanted friends but didn’t actually like Skateboarding As for me I was middle of the pack, but broke my foot in 3 places at once trying to ollie a 6 set again AFTER my board broke. I ended up bailing & my foot just folded like a lawn chair running down the stairs

@@solartea_ I opted out of surgery on my foot because I was scared so to this day my foot melded itself back together in a strange way and looks crooked and I was never able to skate the same again either because every time I slide my foot up the board my foot would feel tender Not only that but my family fell on hard times shortly after and I had to move away from all my skater buddies so needless to say I eventually ended up just quitting It was a very difficult year or two for me but skip ahead like 20 years and life is fine 🤷🏽

You have to have experience making mistakes and in this case falling to learn how to fix it. Also you’ll learn if your just riding, everything but a face plant really doesn’t hurt too bad.
