Another change that has occurred somewhat recently on the Model S is that the supplier of the steering rack has changed. As a result, the steering feel has improved noticeably. There is better road feel, and the steering wheel centers itself with a bit more authority. The loss of the dead pedal is a real head-scratcher, especially if you live in an area where salt is used on the roads in the winter. Keeping that area clean will be a real challenge. Tesla's winter floor mats were recently redesigned, but the newer version still does not completely cover the carpeted footrest. Incidentally, the "Æ" in your channel name makes tricky to search for your channel.
@vdivanov7 жыл бұрын
The flat buttons on the steering wheel used to be two separate pieces, now they are one piece that rocks up or down depending on which button is pressed. The buttons feel more solid.

I'm amazed at all the ways a Tesla Model S doesn't compare to your standard car in disappointing ways. Even my 20 year old BMW has adjustable seat belts, adjustable head rests, vanity mirror lights, coat hooks, a rear seat arm rest, color coordinated lower trim, etc. It's a lot of minor things, but it adds up. Though I support what Tesla is doing, it lends the sense of a car built as cheaply to focus on "gimmicks" rather than a true luxury vehicle.

Very well done. Except... I ordered a S P100D that was new stock because it was exactly what I would have web page designed. It cost less, but was made 1 week earlier 12/14/16. I have all the bells and whistles except for the leather by the door handles. I am so happy, depreciation has not happened to me. The car is faster yet safer than anything else. My car continues to evolve with software updates. It may be of less dollar value than when she was purchased... but, I getta keep all those miles of smiles. Especially the ones that come 1/4 mile at a time. You could put a price on those smiles but it would certainly be more than the cost of depreciation. Plus, I get a lot of my power for free from all the superchargers, for instance... Vegas and back to northern Michigan cost me $0 in fuel. I love my car... period.

Cool video! The deposit also seems to have gone up recently here in Australia. I really believe Tesla never added coat hooks or grab handles to the S to keep the interior looking minimalist and stylish. Same goes for how you could always hide the drink holders by sliding the arm rests. The original Model S yacht floor looked beautiful although it wasn't very functional, it was different to everything else on the market and showed off the fact that there was no transmission tunnel.

Don’t know if it is a difference between S and X or just for european market but my early 2018 Model X has still a white color in front of driver’s and copilot seats. The extra bolsters on the outside seats makes using child seats significantly harder ... a wider child seat still fits fine (even with someone in the middle) BUT because it is pushed a few inches further to the centre of the car which is really annoying when it comes to clicking the seatbelt into the latch. A wider childseat will mean you have to pull the child seat a few inches further towards the front of the car until the belt is latched and then they slide back in fine.

I do prefer the model year and LCI approach to model changes - gather a bunch of changes and have them happen on a model year basis, so that people have a cleared overview what set of features exactly they will be getting when buying a car - either new or used.

Tesla is able to fix and perfect a lot of stuff by not sticking to model years. To be honest, model year is only usefull if you want to sell the car as when buying it you know exactly what's being offered.

I ordered with Premium Leather seats with the Premium Package and they upgraded my seats to ventilated ones which previously were only available on the P models. I also heard that in the new premium package you get the upgraded speakers which were a separate options before. Tesla urgently needs to fix the rear seat comfort. The seats themselves are good enough, but the battery pack in the floor makes sitting in them on a road trip uncomfortable (knees round your ears). I'm a big Tesla fan but 1. It's not ok for cars that are delivered only few months apart to have so many differences. At least make different model years and announce them, it's not ok that I see a friend's car that is 5 months old, order mine with the same specs and get a different product. 2. Build quality. It's not acceptable for a 80+k dollar car to have build issues with so frequently. 1 out of 3 is still too much. And I get that Tesla will fix the problem, but having to return the car you just received to get it fixed it's not pleasant

I strongly disagree with the first point. First, holding features back to a per year release would only serve to slow down progress. The constant upgrades allows for the technology to be out and on the road (and tested) far more often resulting in super fast technological evolution. A per year basis would only slow it down. 2nd, the constant upgrades gives tesla a HUGE competitive advantage and makes them far more current than competitors if you ask me. Just because youre jealous that someones newer tesla is better doesnt mean that they should slow down progress and produced shittier outdated cars when they have the tech to improve it.

My biggest concern is that in Los Angeles the roads are so bad, that I have grown to believe that if this Tesla hovered over the road, it would be a better investment. In Los Angeles, i am concerned that the holes in the roads would damage the vehicle. Also there is so much debris kicking up from the roads and falling off trucks that it would chip the windshields, and also chip the paint, and damage the glass roof. It does not seem like a good investment due to the horrible road conditions. Also people drive horribly in Los Angeles. People literally stare at their phones while running through stop signs, stop lights, and it has become a hot mess with accidents every day. The worst part is rideshare drivers completely ignoring all traffic rules and causing accidents. Why would anyone in Los Angeles invest their hard earned money on such a beautiful computerized machine?
