Bought one watching your video and some others. Best flashlight I own and have owned. Incredible performance in an easy to hold and small package. For me the on/off button has never been an issue to find with or without gloves. Even wearing leather insulated gloves. Once you get familiar with the flashlight you memorize where that on/off is located in relationship to your hand and the body. There's not anything to dislike because it's a well thought out design with ease of functionality in mind. This will light up an entire soccer field. Perfect balance flood and spot. Fenix hit this one out of the ball park. Thanks for a detailed honest review.

I just noticed this light showing up in my feed a few hours ago and then "bam" an OutdoorGearReview video on it! I love your reviews and I've been very happy with gear I've bought on your recommendation (such as the Fenix E30R and PD36R). This looks AMAZING. It's crazy how fast the technology is changing. It wasn't that long ago that a Thrunite TN36 was jaw-dropping at 11,000 lumens. This is nearly the same output, but it looks much smaller! Colour me intrigued! Please keep up the great reviews and also your "adventure" videos. You've been keeping me sane during the pandemic. Well...actually "sane" might be a strong term. LOL :D

I have the TN 36 limited edition, the head is bigger and don't get so hot quickly than this Fenix. I like the UI from the Thrunite much more ,firefly up to high ramping. If this Fenix was with tail switch i was in also because of the throw of 500 meters .Charging type c is also great.

The Fenix LR35R is evolution of the Fenix TK35 Ultimate Edition. The TK35 UE is still an outstanding flashlight that provides more than enough light. It's still the one I use regularly. Can't wait to get my hands on the LR35R after a price drop. Maybe in a year or two. No rush.

Fenix makes really great flashlight products. I bought a lantern from them that hangs in my tent, really small form factor and it was only $30! The lantern uses the same battery as my fenix headlamp so its basically a case for my backup battery. I agree with other commenters that if this is a product that interests you , you should wait for official release and watch multiple reviews, not just one. Fenix makes great products, but make sure you're buying the product that suits you the best!

Great video Thanks Luke, I love the Fenix brand lights been using for years, I have the TK35UE V2.0 5,000 lumen light and love it but the draw back is it has recharging on the batteries otherwise need to carry a charger, been thinking of going to that model not only for more lumens but for the USB capability charging.

Fenix make some great torches but I have had a dodgy one. I purchased the LD30 a year or so back and as great as it was, the thing got so hot that it melted the circuitry inside and it no longer had temperature control, meaning it got REALLY hot and it also had a habit of turning itself on in my pocket and left a light burn on my outer thigh. The replacement had none of those issues so I’ll put the first one down to “it happens”, but this one gets really hot too. It’s been a few months now and the lens is starting to bubble from the heat it puts out, meaning it’s less effective. Luckily Fenix have great customer service so getting the lens replaced shouldn’t be an issue. Over all I’d recommend Fenix just for their innovation, I love what they’re doing. Plus, you don’t see many Fenix torches in the UK, they’re conversation starters, at work at least lol. Edit: The proprietary batteries in mine are a downside. They only take 18650 rechargeable batteries made by Fenix and are the only ones that work with it. Standard 18650 and rechargeable 18650 do not fit.

Nice light. I have one like that from a different manufacturer. LED’s do get hot, thus the reason for the large heat sinks ...dissipate the heat, for they can hot enough to self destruct. One question? What testing criteria did they use? I’m guessing they did it right being Felix, they make great lights.

I had another flashlight that would not go into "turbo" mode. It would momentarily go super bright and then dim. It turns out that some of the 16850 rechargeable batteries have a surge protection circuit built in. When entering turbo mode, the surge triggers the circuit and limits the output. I took the outer wrapper off of the battery and sure enough, it had a surge circuit. I removed the circuit, reinstalled it into the flashlight and it worked like a charm. These 21700 batteries may have the same circuit. Fenix may be able to ramp up the current in the firmware, preventing the quick surge

have had one of these for 4 mths now totally bonkers on full power for such a compact flashlight but even on 3000 lm the light flood pattern and throw are good enough for most scenarios quite simply a torch for any gadget junky and a quality 5yr grty on it as well as for heat on full power well it does give of a bit of heat but like i said the times you will use the max is prod few and far between but the strobe on it is just nuts

Can someone explain to me why they used a side switch instead of tail switch? When I worked security, I loved my Thrunite TC20 except for the fact that I had to fumble in the dark to find the side switch. Quick operation is key in a product designed for law enforcement use, so is there any reason they didn't use a tail switch on this? To me, they are so much easier to find quickly.

It's going to depend on a lot of factors. What's your budget (very low cost? sky's the limit?) What kind of conditions will you be in (hot & dry? a chance of rain? snow?) How much weight do you want to carry (heavy & split between 2 adults? ultralight?) Will there be bugs? As @Witchdoctor suggested, email Luke. But be sure to also tell him a little about your plans so he knows what your situation will be.

Yeah, I'm not sure a pocket clip is practical on a light that size, especially in the awkward spot it is mounted. Seems like it would be really difficult to clip onto your belt because its recessed behind the main light barrel. I think it may work better if it was mounted on the narrow side.

I have a similar Olight flashlight, but I like that the Fenix uses standard 21700 batteries. I’ve now migrated to only using lights that use standard 21700 or 18650 batteries. Fenix make USB chargeable versions of both these batteries so that they are easy to charge. I might switch to it just for that reason. Olight batteries are standard sizes, but non-standard connectors and that’s really put me off.
@EarlyMist
@EarlyMist 4 жыл бұрын
Olights backwards spaced batteries are proprietary due to their magnetic charging capabilities. Great for around an area with charging stations but in the field not practical unless you buy more of their pricey proprietary batteries. Which I did because I like them. The torches that is. I could take or leave magnetic charging...and when you don't have your proprietry Olight magnetic usb charger in the field for your battery bank...you're SOL...even though you have like 5 type C usbs right there for your phone and other devices.
@Ian..

So if it's a Fenix you can probably access the turbo until the battery power gets below 85% and then you're not going to be able to get turbo it is only got 8000 milliamps you can always buy better batteries all the problems I side with my other Fenix flashlights I really don't think I do picking this one up I think something like the nitecore concept 2 is a much better deal

Looks great but overkill for me.

The recessed button is a dealbreaker. I have the the Thrunite catapult v6, and although super impressive....when you need the light in a hurry, it's not happening. Fenix should know better. So in this case, unless the button feature is improved this is a waste of money.

Has anyone looked at this amount of light including the strobe as being a deterrent to bears and other animals

I read a surefire article more than 10 years ago saying this guy shined his light at a charging moose, and says it saved his life. On another note, another guy also had a story of shining a green laser in the eye of a charging sasquatch which he says was going to smash him to bits.

@@Wavefront101 I think with the sasquatch a green lantern may have been more effective. If you find sasquatch you are sure to find a super hero as well

I think it is great for the intended users. It is possible to be a weapon in the wrong hands.

500m for 10,000 lumins Ehhh one of my thrunite the 32 I think is a bit over 1,300- 1,500 I think and does about 700m....... Still 10,000 is impressive, but I'm worried about it being another over rated on the lumin count light (I got plenty of those)

What companies don't over rate the lumin counts and what companies do?
