Hey Matt, I got to say you still look in great spirits after having to do so much body work and even some re-do's. Thanks for the update and keep up the great work. Dash looks great.

Thanks Brent. Yeah I was a little burned out after doing a lot over Christmas. A little time away was refreshing.

On those quarters, go ahead and use your orbital to get your rough shaping done. Use an interference pad to help stop it from digging in. Once you get it to 'good enough', switch to a very high build primer instead of filler, and use as long of a block as you can. And, of course, use plenty of guide coat. I recommend using actual dry guide coat instead of just dusting spray paint. You can wipe on some wax and grease remover to give it some gloss to help check for waves as well.

Great comment. I'll try that on the passenger side. And yes I use dry guide coat. Do you spray the high-build over the bare metal spots? The data sheet for the product I am using is vauge on that subject.

@@MattsGarage as a general rule, if it’s epoxy, it’s fine over bare metal. If it’s standard 2k high build, it’s not. But that question is always a point of contention. Even some big brands have poly primer that say they are DTM. Personally, I like to spray bare metal with a normal epoxy, block that down with 180, and then finish with a poly. Epoxy has to be fully cured, or it sands like crap. Poly is a lot easier if you are spraying and sanding several times.
@MattsGarage11 ай бұрын
@@floodx4947 Yeah I was afraid you'd say that. Rookie question: Can I just hit the metal with epoxy rather than the whole panel? The bare metal is only a fraction of the total surface. Or is that just dumb?
@floodx494711 ай бұрын
@@MattsGarage Sure. As long as you sprayed epoxy on the panel when you stripped it to bare, you can cover any small spots with just some rattle can epoxy, and then cover with a poly.

Hard as AP Chemistry! Haha! I love it. I'm looking forward to getting my Bronco to the stage where you are. It's looking good, though. Keep at it and it will be on the road before you know it.

Good. Check out my prior video on that. I’ve just run the wires through the firewall but the dash is the hard part
