Also if you visit Grand Rapids MI and you have a car, Lake Michigan is just a short 30 minutes down the road (pass John Ball Zoo and keep going strait down M-45 West). You have the towns of Grand Haven, Coast Guard Head Quarters, light house, beaches, etc. And to the South of Grand Haven is Holland, MI, settled by the Dutch, it has an Amsterdam feel. They even have a wind mill that was imported from Europe. They have great shops, taverns and cocktail bars, etc.

One of the places I’m considering moving to is Grand Rapids (suburb) but I’d like to know how severe winters really are, I live in the Oregon forest where we have the four seasons and snow on the ground for at least 3-4 months a year but our winters here are relatively mild, normally 20-30’s and seldom experience blizzards. I’m old(er) 64 and although I’m in fairly good physical health I’m at the point where I need to live in a condo where they take care of all outdoor services including plowing the snow.

@@livegreatgr there are several reasons I’d like to move to that part of the US. It doesn’t have to be Michigan it could also be Illinois or even Indiana as long as they are pretty (lots of trees), have the 4 seasons and they are less expensive than the PNW..a place that is fun and big in culture
