As a former HEMTT driver I value the vehicle for what it delivered. Best I ever truck I ever drove probably were the Tatra Kolos series. A bunch of Tatra T813 cargos came in for donation during the Gulf War 1991 and they quickly became favorites for us to drive. Some German MAN KAT1 trucks also came in that shipment and were rock solid.

The Oshkosh 8x8 is awesome, and being American, I love it. So I hate to say this, but it's #2 behind the TATRA. It's a badass truck and should be #1. 2 things the former Soviet States can build offroad utility trucks and rugged utility helicopters.

Siberia is an amazing place to test trucks... that is supposed to be used in siberia. Use the same truck in Kenya and the personal is cooked alive. There is no "best" truck in general, they all have an purpose. Use them correctly and most trucks are amazing.

Join the swiss military vehicle driver club. I am one of the lucky ones, becoming a driver on the old Steyr, Unimog, Henschel, Mowag, 2DM and at the end 6DM &10DM. The crown of all have been the 2DMs and now I own one for years already. I drove the new ages Iveco and think; good for normal road conditions but far too much electronic, which will fail in the worst moments and makes you walk again.
