I started watching MMA back in 06. The first PPV I distinctly remember was UFC 68 Couture vs Silvia with my dad and man we were hooked. I started training BJJ and kickboxing shortly after. And nowadays I’m a purple belt in BJJ. I love jiujitsu so much and it was all thanks to that one event one Saturday night.

There was this PS2 game called K1 Grand Prix, it's exactly what it sounds like, it was a kickboxing game that had all the classic K1 monsters, Mirko Cro Cop, Ernesto Hoost, Stefan Leko, it was simplistic but so much damn fun, I played it religiously. And I was at best buy cruising through the music and movies, and I saw a Pride DVD with Mirko and Mark Hunt on it, they were 2 of my favorites from the game, so I bought it, and I've been hooked on MMA ever since.

BJJ gyms, boxing and Thai boxing gyms have taken over the world. Poor Karate, self defence martial arts competitions was never a spectator sport. Grappling tournaments are boring to watch for the casual observer. MMA is the perfect balance for the spectator. Violence from the strikers, BJJ and wrestling for the technical stuff. It truly is a wonderful sport in every way.

I remember seeing Ronda's fight with Sarah D'Alelio in Strikeforce, and I thought it sucked that her win was considered controversial, since D'Alelio cried out in pain, so it was a pretty clear verbal submission. I also remember the crowd booing, and Sarah was comforting Ronda, saying "don't listen to them, you deserve the win." I thought that was classy as hell on D'Alelio's part, especially given the crowds reaction. She could have used the crowds displeasure as an excuse to say "I never tapped," but she accepted the loss with grace and maturity, which is something Ronda was never able to do when she (eventually) lost a fight, and her air of invincibility along with it.

Yep. Most fans weren't aware of that rule until Chael Sonnen lost his first fight against Paulo Filho, but crying out in pain is definitely a verbal submission, so the win should not have been considered controversial.
