@@randomhuman97 To be fair to the other actresses, they are also in the limelight of an overbearing media that would like to turn every tiny bit into the next breaking news...all because they are young leading actresses who also look good. Vidya Balan doesn't get as much attention, therefore, not as much controversy. My point is, given enough exposure, every single human being could be the center of multiple controversies, even you and me.

I think the point Aamir Khan makes about Slumdog Millionaire makes a lot of sense. Speaking English (and doing so well, especially in a foreign accent) is a mark of social status. It indicates that you are "well-off" which defeats the purpose of the film :')
@Vor567tez
@Vor567tez 2 жыл бұрын
Lot of people mistake Slumdog Millionaire as bollywood or Indian movie but it is actually British Drama movie. The director was Britisher hence the language was English. Just because it's based in India and have Indian actor doesn't make it Indian movie otherwise Shang Chi and the legend of ten rings and Black Panther wouldn't be called Hollywood movie. Also the movie won because of white director. Maybe people of India don't know this but Oscar's have been well known for their racism. If it wasn't for a white director AR Rahman wouldn't hv been noted. Indian's need to get over with SM and Oscar obsession.

@GSS we are not here to determine native Indians and people who are living here from 5000 years ago, or who came 500 years ago, or who came with the Mughals. For being an Indian you just have to have 2 things: 1. An Indian citizenship official purposes 2. Loyalty and patriotism towards the country by being a responsible citizen I think Srk has both. He is probably contributing more to the Indian economy and global impression than any one of us.

Th unconventional outsiders have far as less ears on them. When guys like aamir or srk speak about serious issues, it becomes a political issue to the point of violence and vandalism. Those guys have 100s of crores running on their movies, which is usually bunch of studios money. Damn easy to be outspoken and opiniated when you have very little to loose. Dont expect superstars with millions of fan and millions of money riding on them to talk about sensitive or uncomfortable things, when your first form of disagreement is that of violence.

The thing about SRK and INDIA is that nothing much has changed from 2009, perhaps it's getting worse by each day. You are not allowed to say anything against the mainstream and in order to prove yourself a good indian you have to hate pakistan. And whenever somebody tries to go against the flow (SRK in 2009, SRK again in 2015, Aamir in 2015) they receive backlash.

What about some of John Abraham's interviews? I've seen many of them and to be honest, in all of his interviews he's always honest, real, humble and down to earth. There are too many of these that I can't just pick one for an example. Also, while all you go crazy in theaters for movies like Bharat and Zero, you all miss out on pure gems like John's Romeo Akbar Walter, Parmanu, Force 2, Batla House, Satyameva Jayate, Madras Cafe and Rocky Handsome just to name a few. I genuinely do not know what is wrong with the Indian audience, start watching movies that make you feel good about being an Indian instead of brainless comedies like Housefull 4.

About the last one what amir khan said is absolutely true. Films with authenticity should win the oscar. In india we have corruption everywhere. Even this year the committee did not select films like , " ghore ko jalebi khilane le ja raha hu." Or " nagar kirtan" . Instead they selected "gully boy" which is indeed a good film but not a great one. India never sent tumbbad for Oscar!!

extraction is another example, its a decent movie but if you see and hear the scenes and sounds in dhaka, it is very authentic. You can hear hindi songs ankhiyon se goli maare, ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga and mere gully mein playing in the background as they are a big fan of bollywood songs. You can also see that it is very similar to india the colonies, the people, the houses, the areas, etc. Another thing is that they had many hindi dialogues. Ofcourse, the producers are the russo's so you expect a lot from them - the authenticity, the imapct, the easter eggs, etc.
