BMW M135i - if you buy one, make syre you change the sump to a baffled one as n55 is known to fail due to oil starvation on the track, drifting etc Also zf8 swap is not very expensive at all, I swapped mine a month ago in my 140 from HP50 to HP70 for £940 all included Another thing, rear subframe, make sure you get at least the bush inserts which are still shit but makes it little better than not having them, best option is to get solid aluminium bushes Front tyres suffer from premature wear on the outside edge because of how bmw designed the front suspension, get M3/M4 arms, you get little camber(1/1.5 neg degree) which improves the handling and your tyres will be ok , or you can get camber plates

Love the video. I’ve got a good video idea that I don’t see anywhere else on KZbin - Great second cars for new drivers. The upgrade from the typical corsa/fiesta that isn’t too expensive (under 10k like this video maybe) and includes relatively cheap to run vehicles (insurance, good mpg etc). 👍🏻 any other advancements on this idea are welcome

I’ve actually done a couple like this but I have another planned soon!
@@tombecker1033 agreed they are very good choices but they have been covered in his previous videos so I was wondering if there’s any other great cars that aren’t too expensive but are a huge upgrade compared to “starter” cars. For example my mate recently got a recent BMW Z4 for like 7K with 45 thousand miles and was relatively cheap to insure - about 1k. (He’s 20 so not bad really).

not to forget those m135is have a lot of tuning options and can handle more than 700hp on a stock block. However, some of those engines suffer from worn rod bearings as early as 45k miles as people track their cars a lot and the n55s' oil pan is too deep for a car like this. A lot of owners suffer from oil starvation on the track and cause the engine to seize up. So if you want to track an m135i ( basically every car equipped with the n55 engine except the m2) I would recommend upgrading the oil pan and the oil pump from an s55 engine as the oil pan is shallower and they are designed to handle corners with a large amount of g force

One car I think should have been on the list altho not sure it is in terms of money is the Peugeot 208 GTi. 3 doors hot hatch with 208HP coming from a turbo charged 1.6 liter engine is really respectful considering it doesnt weight much. In here they are more affordable than most Golf/Polo GTI and I would say better handling considering they weight less. Also Pegueot is a company with rich racing experience, so im presuming they know exactly what to look for when building a sporty car. Also im considering to buy one in the future when prices get low.

What’s your thoughts on having a Volkswagen Golf GTD MRK 7 high mileage with a changed cambelt? Can get some around £7,500?
@greygoosesipper63373 жыл бұрын
Not really a hot hatch or quick
@Adam_Jones133 жыл бұрын
@@greygoosesipper6337 True, but wouldn’t the GTI be a hot hatch even though it’s just a diesel version and still gets 0-60mph in 7.5 seconds ?
@greygoosesipper63373 жыл бұрын
@@Adam_Jones13 the gti and other petrol counterparts are a lot more tuneable and you can get a lot more performance out of them Diesels are still good and can still be great performance engines but they will always be more for economy and day to day driving and in my opinion just aren’t as fun(can’t beat the sound of a nice petrol)! But still a great choice for someone who wants something of an all rounder
@greygoosesipper63373 жыл бұрын
@@Adam_Jones13 I just don’t think they’re as “hot” as most petrol hatches especially after intake exhaust and remap as most people would do with a performance car

The Seat Leon Cupra R mk1 should have definitely been on this list 225bhp and sub 7 second 0-60 time, all of that for under 5k.

Possibly - it’ll be more expensive than a VW, but less expensive than going for a straight up M car!

It's a BMW, of course it will, to replace the cheapest of parts will require major wallet surgery due to the crap design
