This was great!!! One thing that would be a great stocking stuffer is a black light flash light. It is great for going out to find the worms on brassicas and in the summer time on Tomatoes and peppers. Love that thing.
@LanceBailey-iu9voАй бұрын
Yes. A black light makes those tomato worms show up bright. Much easier to spot and pick them off the plant. Especially at night.

I can't ask my husband for any gifts for any holiday for the next 5 years! As we were preparing Friday for our family Thanksgiving on Saturday, he suddenly had "errands" to run. First he picked up a prescription, then ran to the local hardware store. Then he called and said he needed to go to work for a little while (The plant is closed for the holiday, but he sometimes has things to do that's easier with no one else around, so I didn't question him) A little later he called again and said he had to run to Springfield to pick up something for the plant. I got suspicious then, because he ALWAYS tells me exactly what he has to pick up, and this item was just "something". (I told our boarder that he was up to some nefarious deed, but thought he might be buying himself a new recliner) When he came home, he pulled a jacket out of the closet and handed it to me and said he needed to show me something in the truck. In the back of the truck was a Harvest Right Freeze Dryer! He actually went to Marshfield and picked one up at the Ace Hardware store. We need to get a cart for it, because I just don't have a permanent spot it can live yet, but that gift will certainly wear a gift bow for a very long time, lol! And yes, I've already had requests for candy!

Another great idea is a PRINTED cookbook!
@theIAMofMEАй бұрын
Absolutely!! Especially one with family favorites and holiday dishes. My mom died 14 years ago. After she couldn"t make the whole shindig anymore, she just brought her dressing. Now, all these years later, I think this year I might have gotten it RIGHT. I never watched her make it or anything. BIG mistake. She had no recipe. I think as parents and grandparents it would be an amazing gift to have printed out all those "family favs" in some sort of book. So when we pass, there's at least a guide of ingredients if no recipe was ever used. Just the ingredients and certain technics would be a godsend, IMO.
@AZJH8374Ай бұрын
Kevin, you're such a dork! Bare handed!You crack me up!

Presto pressure canner; great idea! Also, "The Encyclopedia of Country Living" is a GREAT gift. It has everything for the homesteader!!!!
@shellycarter155Ай бұрын
Instead of using kitchen scissors for really tough jobs, I bought a pair of thin and curved pruning shears. They are amazing! So much less stress on your hands, the cut amazingly well! Especially when spatchcocking either large chickens and even turkeys!

It's surprising that I have most of the items you both showed. And the plumbing hanger has been a God send at times. Kevin, love that book. I used it for my first attempt with chickens and have loaned it out countless times. I think it's time to ask Santa for a butane torch or maybe an auger set. Happy Thanksgiving.

What perfect content!!!❤❤ God bless you all and many prayers 📿 Nurse Judi in Scottsdale AZ and Eucharistic Minister 📿 🙏🏻 you guys remember the Reynolds plant on around 48th st. & VanBuren? I wanted to share what I was thinking of this morning while getting things ready for tomorrow Thankful I am thankful for : 1. My house that needs cleaning ( it means I have a home) 2. Dirty dishes in the sink (I have food to eat to make them dirty) 3. Laundry to do (I have clothes to wear) 4. Children that clutter and make too much noise sometimes ( I have healthy happy children, grandchildren) 5. Friends who call multiple times in a day. ( I have friends I can talk to and pray with) 6. The grass that needs mowing or walks that need shoveling ( I have a yard ) 7. My family no matter how crazy that gets at times. That just means God has given me a family to love that loves me back and I can share Jesus with them, pray for them, and love them unconditionally like God loves us. HAPPY THANKSGIVING MY FAMILY 🦃🙏

@tonyn3123Ай бұрын
My comments from experience. Henkel knives from Germany. I bought a set many years ago and they are still performing nicely. Well, much better than nicely! Since I purchased them, Hinkel is also selling knives under the Hinkel brand but produced in China. Avoid those! Make sure your knives are German steel and manufactured in Germany and I think they have the little logo twice on the German-made knives. Don't hold me to that but definitely check before buying. Best on the market in my opinion but you'll pay for the quality. Cheaper in the long run though. I agree that a very good quality kitchen knife set is imperative, homesteading or not! Pipe strapping is required of all men anywhere in any lifestyle situation! It's a necessity, like boots and hats! LOL A self-starting torch is another requirement for all men. But I still prefer the propane. Thanks.

Sarah, and Kevin, Excellent gift suggestions! As a homesteader myself, I have most of those handy suggestions. I giggled to myself when Kevin stated he miss placed his multi-tool. Bought a new one, then found the multi-tool 2 months later outside (OMG....my husband lost um....actually misplaced several tools. Bought new replacements, and months later found the misplaced tool). Now he has multiple versions of the same tool. Have a Happy Thanksgiving🦃
