Pro tip if you're moving somewhere that gets cold in the winter. Get a place with a garage (preferably attached) and keep your car in it. If that's not in your budget and you're coming from somewhere warmer, you might want to rethink.

The top 10 cities that had the highest proportion of people who were happy with their move might be different than the methodology that was used for this series of videos.

Otherwise, you best like to walk in parks and watch a lot of TV. As far as crime and all that, I didn't have any problem while I was there. If you want to live in Paradise you best be prepared to accept that a lot of other people will also and you'll have to pay for it. Huntsville is now the largest city in Alabama. (Largest with an asterisk - the city of Huntsville is now more populous than the city of Birmingham, but Huntsville metro is only about half the size of Birmingham metro.) Apartment and housing rentals have been rising markedly in the last few years. However there's currently an apartment building boom in the Huntsville area; prices should start to stabilize within a year or so.

I feel like all the people moving to CO/AZ/NV/UT etc and love it are coming from much worse areas so they would still love it despite locals hating the changes. People who are actually from UT might find it extremely different compared to how it used to be. I left Brooklyn to move to Las Vegas and everyone in Vegas is annoyed at how expensive Vegas has become (myself included). Houses used to be $150-300K and now a starter home is $499K+. With higher rents and more people, there’s increased crime and homelessness too and that’s happening nationwide in every city. Lots of NV locals are therefore considering cheaper areas like TX, FL, TN (all no state income tax), but for the newest residents of NV, it’s still an awesome place to live
@thullraven12 жыл бұрын
@@LasVegasRaidersFan702 TX isn't cheaper. It USED to be before the CA Evacuee Locusts decimated our cities here. A house that was $220k three years ago is about $450k now. I moved to San Diego from Phoenix last year for a job and while the weather is an absolute improvement this is far from a perfect city. We get major heatwaves during the summer months and most places do not have A/C. Absurd prices for buying and renting here as well. Even though I earn above average money and have no debt there is little possibility of owning my own home here. I do not see San Diego as my permanent place unless, by miracle, the housing market improves in the next few years. Additionally, most people who visit San Diego stay in the nicer coastal tourist spots. You would not be living on the beach if you move to San Diego unless you have a massive amount of capital. There is quite a bit of crime, major amounts of houseless folks, poor public transportation system, housing crisis, and not very biking friendly! @@GUITARTIME2024 also dude in SoCal I meet so many different people who have moved here from places like AZ, Washington, Florida, Texas, NC, Colorado, etc and absolutely love it here. Literally the amount of people that have came here is more then the amount that has left but all ur gonna hear from the media is about those who leave and that’s what everyone who’s not from here or doesn’t live here thinks is going on. Spent a week in Huntsville around 2005 for my husband’s work. We fell in love! If our kids weren’t entrenched at home, we would have gone in a heartbeat. We even looked at a rural property there. Have always looked back wistfully. Actually would still move there.

In Boulder, CO you are lucky to find a single family home that is 60 years old and needs work for $800,000. A livable house is close to $1,000,000. Condos are $400,000 and up. I wished you had mentioned the crime. I came to CU in 1983 and stayed. Today I do not venture downtown alone day or night. The drug scene is horrible, right by the local high school and all people do is talk about it.

I can understand why Huntsville is getting so popular. It's facing what Raleigh faced in the last 15 years. I live in Raleigh, and yes, everything mentioned about it is true & are reasons why I don't regret moving here for the most part. Both Huntsville & Raleigh can get cold in the winter, & you'd be scraping your car in the morning. At least you'll still get that 60-65 degree day in January. You'll want to wear shorts at least once in each month. It's 72 degrees on the first day of November here in Raleigh as I am typing this comment. Might flirt with 80 degrees this weekend.

I actually didn't expect any City from California to be on this list. Although if there was one to be on the list I thought it would be San Diego because all I've heard besides how expensive it is there is that it's a nice place to live. I like where I'm from which is Santa Rosa California which is in Northern California and an hour North of San francisco. Kind of ironic how you mentioned that people in Colorado springs love that they're an hour away from Denver and don't have to associate with them but to be honest I feel like even though I'm an hour North of San Francisco I'm in the way associated with them anyways because of all the sports teams from there and throughout the Bay area and you know all the fan support and stuff like that and well I mean I've been to San Francisco a lot just because well sometimes I'm driving through it to get somewhere else or on the way home from somewhere else, but it's just a great tourist attraction. Not a place I'd want to live in no, but has a lot of cool places to go. There is a big difference between Santa Rosa and San Francisco in general though just because Santa Rosa is the largest city in wine country and it is still very liberal here of course but like even though the cost of living is considered really high here it's like half of what it is in San Francisco and it's a much smaller city than San Francisco so honestly I always felt like Santa Rosa wasn't even very populated but little did I know it is actually pretty highly populated

I visited Sandy Eggo a few years ago and was surprised how pleasant and clean it was. I think I was thinking it would be crowded, expensive, and poop on the streets like San Fran, and LA. Great place. And I'm a cigar smoker and to my surprise they have lots of cigar bars still going strong.

I was very skeptical about leaving California and the west coast and moving to the east coast in Washington, DC. I moved to Old Town, Alexandria in Northern Virginia right outside DC a couple years back, and I can't express how much I love it over here. The weather is amazing most time of the year, the people are lovely, it has some great bars and restaurants and the vibe is unbeatable. I've had friends visiting from the west coast with a similar mindset as me and now they are looking to move here as well. If I could afford a house in Old town, I would never leave the place.

Old Town, VA is a lovely place to visit, but that's it. The novelty of living there will wear off quickly due to the over-crowding, traffic nightmares, ultra-expensive housing, hot and humid summers, and its share of rude people. If you are in your 20s or 30s it may appeal to you, and certainly is a great area for job and career prospects, but otherwise should be way down on most people's list of desireable places to call home. In fact, basically all of Northern Virginia fits into the same bucket. Massive influx of culturally diverse people with no interest in assimilation. Good place to put in your rearview mirror.

Very interesting to hear such a positive take on northern VA. I've lived in the DMV my whole life (MD, VA) and always found it to be a double-edged sword. Depending on where you live, you can find some peaceful nature and getaway spots for hiking and outdoor recreation. BUT...the traffic sucks and I've often found people to be very hit or miss. I suppose that's the case anywhere, but when you live that close to Mt. Doom, it affects peoples' attitudes--aggressive driving, impatience. DC has some fantastic music venues though(9:30 Club, Black Cat, DC9, The Anthem) along with other fun nightlife and museums. I look forward to Fall every year because the humidity starts to die.

Huntsville is SO different than the rest of Alabama. A huge number of high-tech companies have offices there, and there are engineers as far as the eye can see. The weather is terrific and the town is in the foothills of the Appalachians, so very scenic. Plus it's standard for an average house to come with half an acre of land.
@cisium11842 жыл бұрын
I find these kinds of comments confusing. Huntsville isn't that different from Alabama at all, both because Huntsville isn't that great, and because the rest of Alabama isn't that bad. Also anyone who thinks the weather in Huntsville is "terrific" obviously hasn't been there in August. Basically, Huntsville is Tuscaloosa with engineers instead of undergrads, tech instead of auto manufacturing, and hockey instead of football.
