I just found 4 mercury dimes in the reject tray of a Coinstar. All from the 40s, but still 4 silver dimes. Couldn't believe it

Several years ago, I found a 14 carat gold ring in a Coinstar machine. Got about $50 for it at a coin and bullion shop. Price of gold then was about $850 per ounce.

I've probably commented this on other videos on the channel before, but even if you're outside the US where finding silver is less likely, it's still worth checking your local Coinstar - I'm in the UK, and over the years I've found tons of coins from around the world to add to my collection, or for use as small change if I go abroad! This includes loads of coins from the USA, since people often mistake dimes for five pence coins as they're almost exactly the same size, just a bit thinner. It's gotten to the point that I might need to cash in my change at a Coinstar if I find myself on the other side of the Atlantic any time soon :)

Once I looked for coins in the reject slot of a coinstar machine. I didn't see anything. But on my way out of the store I noticed a round shiny object on the ground. It was an Ms-63 1955 Saudi Arabian 1 Riyal! It was made of about 90% silver and was worth $20!

First machine I checked after watching these vids yielded a 2014 Columbia 100 pesos (bout 25 cents), 1928 buffalo nickel and a 1954 quarter! I'm just wondering what got accepted as it seems someone might have dumped a collection.

Probably 20% of my coinstar silver coin finds have been from on the floor in front of or just under the machine. My theory is the silver just wants to jump out of that reject tray and bounce. I guess it has a difference resonance/vibration and the coins just bounce out easier than clad. I've gotten THREE steelies before at different times. Also, a pretty nicely faked pewter(?) counterfeit 1964 quarter. (Yes, a counterfeit quarter... it has a barely perceptible mold seam on the rim.) My favorite find, though, is a good condition 1867 2 cent piece. How does a coin that surely hasn't been spent in 80-100 years end up in a coinstar?!? Anyway... awesome montage! I really enjoy these. Thanks!

I got some commemorative coins from a vending machine
@russriley30056 ай бұрын
when the CoinStar rejects a coin, it is something it doesn't recognize. if you see a dime and it isn't damaged, but the machine wouldn't take it, there's a chance that they are silver from a collectors set swiped from mom and dad. I just found a dime from 2013 that is silver
