I do love autumn but... it leads to the horrific darkness of winter. I don't even mind the cold so much as the darkness, dreariness, and isolation. I get so depressed in a basement apartment with very little light. I dread it each year but especially the last 6 years, stuck here with a family health situation from which I cannot escape.

Scarf blankets are the bomb. I love how you can just stick them in your purse or bag and pop them out if it gets chilly or you go to a cold restaurant. Perfect for this time of year

A fur baby (dog or cat) is also nice to have around during autumn as well (or any time of the year.) When I was in university, my maltese used to sit with me on cold autumn nights when I studied. A book, cup of tea and a pet sounds like a perfect autumn day or evening.

I’ve been starting to get into autumn a little earlier than usual. Usually I’m more of a summer person since I’m not always a big fan of the cold since I feel the cold more than the average person. However, I think because here in the UK we experienced record temperatures this summer I think I’m ready for a bit of cooler/fresher weather and I’m looking forward to drinking warm drinks and buying cosier clothes for this season. I would love to decorate my spaces too! :)

Hi Ruby, your autumn suggestions are warm and cozy (especially that scarf, what a fantastic idea); Could you tell me the brand of your raincoat, hat, and boots? I live in New York City, and no one really wears them here. The preference seems to be buying an umbrella that is super light and super small, that will be irrevocably destroyed by the strong gusts of wind on a stormy day. It is not uncommon to spot an abandoned umbrella, upside down on the sidewalk, crouching like a large black spider. It’s still late summer here, the highs are in the upper 70s/low 80s; I hope that cool days will arrive soon, so that the trees will turn brilliant colors in the fall. If the warm temperatures last too long, the leaves turn a dull muddy brown before dropping to the ground. So long, I hope you are having a productive day! Janet 🦋

another book i'd recommend is "the graveyard book" by neil gaiman. it's a middle grade book about a boy who, after his family is murdered, lives in seclusion in the local graveyard. its really cozy but with just enough spooky vibes :)

I've never cared for fruit tasting teas or ones that taste/smell "flowery." And I hate decaf coffee/regular tea. I just can't seem to choke it down. But I need to find something non-caffeinated with a taste I enjoy. It's always chilly in my basement apartment. (Especially in the in-between time, when the heaters are not yet on.) I find myself drinking way too much caffeine, just to stay warm. Caffeine doesn't usually affect me if it's just a cup or two. But if I'm drinking throughout the day, I eventually get jittery and I hate that feeling.

In my opinion, Noctuary by Thomas Ligotti is perfect for autumn, especially for October. Any book by Ligotti is good for autumn/winter though.

Hi Ruby, sorry to put this message here, I couldn’t see an email address or anything to send you my question so I hope this is okay. I of course loved the video, I am a huge Autumn lover, gives me all the Hygge vibes and so so much enjoyment! My question was; would you consider please making a video as how parents can support their children from an early age through to teenage hood with their love of learning? My son is only 5 but I am so keen to be a support to him with his learning. I’d love for him to have the same love of learning that you do. I wondered if you had some insightful tips. I would be so immensely grateful to you! My upbringing wasn’t that great and therefore I didn’t have the best time academically (and also wasn’t a happy child or adult really) so I’m hoping to do much better for my son ☺️ you set such a great example!
