Alex Smith wasn't the bust for the 49ers, there was no help around him, there was a whole lot of Head coaches, and with that came a lot of different offensive schemes he had to learn. Plus the front office didnt help either. When Mike Singeltary came around they were slowly coming together. Then they fired him. So they had to start all over again. So it wasn't all on Alex Smith. That was proven when Jim Harbaugh came in. Alex was showing what he could do. He shouldn't be on this list at all. I'm glad he also did good some where's else.

“Bust” can be taken a lot of different ways. And at the end of the day, you either produce or you don’t, no matter the excuses. Mitch Trubisky got drafted with an awful head coach in John Fox, sat behind Mike Glennon (who sucks) for half a season before being thrown to the wolves. Mitch had multiple coordinators and a revolving door of an o line to throw behind. But at the end of the day, he didn’t produce. Maybe he will with the Bills, we shall see. Either way, Smith never played great for any long stretch and didn’t produce early in his career, and that is usually called a bust, especially when you are the number one pick. No need to get that upset, buddy. Life is too short.
