Just reviewed your video again and have The Long Run in my collection. I found something interesting in the dead wax next to the Sterling sound stamp. Two comments were etched, one on each side. Side one says “Never let your monster down” and on side two, “From the Polack who sailed north”! LMAO!!! Keep up the good work!!😂😂😂

Thanks for the preparation and taking the time to present another topic in music history. For me listening to music is about the whole experience and having that history that you present makes it 10X better. I’m 54 so definitely reliving those 80’s days! Your knowledge base is Amazing so Thank You again. When you have passion in what you do it just can’t help to pour out like a good Gin and Tonic. Now to start searching for those titles LOL.

Quality matters. When I rip tracks, I strive to do similar. They have to be lossless. clean everything coming in. If sound quality is not as good check again and that copy goes back on the DCMA legal archive scratchstack! and on the mental list of targets to re-acquire. Accidently dropping and cracking freshly ripped Fallen album was tragic. Evanescence did a re-release in 2016 but I want all copies. Own a decent amount of music. Stuff that cannot be found on youtube. No Shakira Magia or Peligro. No "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin". No Wax cylinders... but good stuff. but this writer enjoys lossless high fidelity gems. Optical discs are preference. Chandelle... Jess Penner guys are very very talented. Only some of their songs exist on youtube. Soft rock, intelligent, peaceful

I love your channel and I really enjoy all your segments about audiophile pressings you can find easily/cheaply. Another great example is Boston's debut album which sounds amazing- I always tell friends to look for the 'Wally' pressing. So, I was thrilled when I found your channel and saw you doing these segments. There will always be the occasional rude person who apparently didn't get into vinyl for the sound quality and has something rude to say but keep up what you're doing- I watch regularly and really enjoy what you have to say. Happy Memorial Day Weekend:) - Christi

I’ve been watching these mastering videos and hunting down some of the titles I didn’t already have. Some of them I already knew I wanted, but the specifics about pressings helped. So far from the info you’ve provided, I’ve added… Jefferson Starship - Red Octopus Journey - Escape Steely Dan - Gaucho Donald Fagen - The Nightfly JD Souther - Black Rose They all came from discogs, which is always a crap shoot, so they weren’t all quite as minty as I’d hoped for. But they do all sound fantastic. I still have a long want list.

Am really enjoying this series. Yes mastering and even pressing plant are important if one wants to hear music sound as good as it can sound. If the quality of sound isn't a concern ..life will be much cheaper and simple however that experience of closing your eyes and it feels like the band is right there in your room will never be felt.

Love this series, it’s one of my favourites within the VC. 100% agree with what you’re saying. Like yourself, I do buy the odd MOFI etc. but I can buy several great used records for the same money - and the joy of searching for them is also something I really enjoy. As a general rule I try to find early pressings, and will only buy VG+. As ever there’s one or two albums featured here that I’ll be searching out next week. Keep up the good work Tim 😎 PS a little tip back for you, if you haven’t got it see if you can find the album ‘Split’ by the Groundhogs. Fantastic British blues-rock album from 1971 and sounds great.

Grace Jones - Nightclubbing (1979) mastered by Ted Jensen. On my TT right now. Bought the record new when I was a kid and have cherished it all these years. Sounds absolutely brilliant. Sly and Robbie in the lineup. Punchy bass. A great recording and fantastic music, in case anyone out there hasn't heard it... check it out.

Agreed with Joe Walsh. Even moreso with THE SMOKER YOU DRINK, THE PLAYER YOU GET. One of the best sounding albums from that year of release. (1973). Ghost in the Machine unsure about. As said, I believe Hugh Padgham's work with Genesis is his best working relationship, followed closely by Phil Collins / Peter Gabriel / XTC. I just don't think him and The Police/Sting always yield great results. There's a lower quality to them, unlike Padgham's other work. And Pete Townshend? WHITE CITY : A Novel, is an album of such recording excellence (Bill Price engineered) that you could probably blind test it against a CD, and apart from crackles or pops, you'd have people reconsidering digital as an option. I can't think of another album, barring Michael Jackson's BAD, that has that high a standard to it, that was not recorded by Hugh Padgham. I would say Mutt Lange, but he has a habit of making snare drums sound a bit funny, depending on the artist.

Received my copy of "But Seriously Folks" (one of the "Eagles" better albums 😉) and you were right on the money. The only criticism I have is the high-hat sibilance on a few of the songs, but other than that "nit-picky BS" this is a great sounding LP. I really love this series because it makes me check out LPs I may not think of picking up. Cheers! 👍

Thanks for all the highly informative videos, i especially like the series on masters of mastering. Your knowledge is a pleasure to hear. You should research Bill Schnee.... He has worked with many artists. Love his work. Not sure of the quality of the pressings.
